Hi,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing a Cobra 11 Band Radar and Laser Detector if I modify it to use with a motorcycle. I am thinking about extending the front and rear laser modules, putting the radar detector in an external box to be mounted on the front of the motorcycle, re-soldering the display to it can be mounted on the dash board, and adding a headphone jack on the radar detector so headphones could be worn under your helmet so you can hear the alerts. If you have already performed the cigarette outlet mod, it would be really easy for you to install this detector.

I haven't done these mods yet, so if anyone wants the stock detector, just let me know.

If you are interested in the modified detector, let me know also.

First come first serve.

P.S. I no longer need this detector, as my new car has a K40 installed just under the gauges.

It is not the mounting that seems to be the problem. I know that I would mount it right above the gauges so the screen could be easily visible. It is the fact that the rider blocks the rearward facing detector on the top of the detector itseft. I have a solution to the problem, but do not want do any soldering unless I know that someone on here would want to buy it.

If anyone is interested, I originally purchased the detector for $100. I am willing to sell it, modded or not, for $40-50. If you are interested, just send me a PM and we can talk more about what mods you want exactly.

dont be ignorant.  the rear detector (the 'eye') is for laser not radar as far as im concerned.  idk about your gs but mine goes above the speed limit so dont whine about the gs's speed.  its fast enough to get u a ticket and fast enough to kill you as well.  a detector isnt a license to speed. any smart person knows that.  if nohting else my radar detector is a constant reminder that i should be watching my speed.  it SLOWS me down.

Exactly. Besides, I just have this one sitting around cause I have the K40 in my new Bimmer. It is bad assical. I can pick up police radar and lasers from 2+ miles away, over hills, and around corners. It is the baddest radar/laser detector ever. And yes, it is 360 degree laser/radar detection. This is very useful, because I don't know where you live, but where I live, the fuzz likes to wait on the highway on ramps and get you when you can't see them. BIG pain. If anybody is interested, just let me know. I can keep it stock, or modify it to fit your needs. BTW, if you don't think the GS can get you a ticket, you are just ignorant. My friend used to ride a Kawa EX250, key word USED to ride it. He got his license revoked and spent the night in jail for going 35 over the posted speed limit. Just goes to show you that no matter how small the bike is, it can still get you into some SERIOUS trouble with the law.

FearedGS500

yup yup .  its all true. the gs  goes over 75mph (and pretty fast to ) and thats grounds for a ticket :)

Seriously, no takers? Just make me an offer. I will try to work with you.

RedShift

Sorry.  Not me.  I live on the wild side and unless I adhere to the speed limit.

Personally, I think radar detectors are stupid on a bike. For one, they're usually more of a ticket notifier, rather than a ticket preventor. And two, the units are not small. When you mount them on a bike you end up with this big ugly black box mounted in some ridicules way off of the handle bars. It just looks stupid and gets in the way.
