Check eBay.  I bought a Fieldsheer Air Speed 3 (perforated) for $160 shipped.  It is leather, has CE armor in the shoulders, elbows, and back and some padding on the collar bones.  That way you don't have to buy any separate armor.

There is a vendor on eBay that allows you to make an offer on his auctions.  If you check back on his ended auctions, you can see how much of a discount he's willing to give.  On some items, it's a pretty big discount.  Sand Hills Powersports I think.

RVertigo

The Make an Offer thing is cool, but it's a bit of a waste of time...  You offer $100 and they mail back saying, the lowest we can go it $240...  So, you mail back with $210 and they return with $240...  So, you mail again with $239.99 and they return again with $240.   :dunno_white:

Either way it's better than paying $380.   :thumb:

I like it. but I would do a complete teardown to combat rust and a new paint job.

from the pics I hope you got a good deal.

+1.. if/when I get it, I'll be taking it apart (mainly for fun, and so I can learn more about how it works, since I've read everything on the forums, but doing > reading), sanding some to get rid of rust, painting the headers, cleaning up the can, doing minor stuff.. but it runs well, I'm told. Eventually, I'll probably paint it matte black (spray can, of course!).

Quote from: Wrecent_Wryder on April 11, 2006, 02:36:40 PMQuite frankly, I'm amazed. I thought the stigma of the black leather jacket was long dead. Apparently not.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with the brown.
And those are the reasons I'd like a black one.   Intimidation is underrated IMO.  :icon_twisted:

When I had blue hair, I friggen loved it...  Some people would run, some would laugh, and some would come talk to me about it...  And not the people you'd think.  My two favorites were an old lady that thought my hair was just beautiful and a little kid that said, "Mommy, that man has a blue head."     She replied, "Yes he does."

Preach on!

I'm not so much of an intimidating guy, short, a little muscular... I think the black jacket would go just fine with my long hair and piercings. Yay piercings! Next up: Nipples?

Haha... only kidding. Sort of.

Well, I just read That_Guy's thread, and he sold the bike. Which explains why he didn't answer my last PM. Which blows for me, cuz I was all set to paypal/send him a deposit of half, until I could scrape up the rest. Man... looks like this thread is now irrelevant, as I doubt I'll find another bike for that price ($1200) anytime soon. DAMN, I was all excited too..

Hah.. 2.5K... I was barely gonna get by with $1200 for that bike. No way I could double it. Maybe this summer, if I can pull off $3K net/month, then I'll have my $6K for school, and $3K to play with for a bike... we'll see..

Get your gear anyway...  SRSLY...

If you find a bike, then you can ride it rather than looking for gear that you may or may not be able to afford.

3imo

good point RV.

I have a few hundred invested in gear.

If you added the retail on all my gear, I think it comes out to over a grand, at least.

Exactly why he should get his gear anyway...  Find the jacket you want and search for something cheap that's close to it.  Search the various discount retail websites (newenough.com, motorcyclecloseouts.com, etc.), search E-Bay, search craigslist.org, keep your eyes on the sale/trade section of various moto forums.

My wife was in no hurry to get her jacket and I found a brand new one on E-Bay for more than $150 less than retail.

Get your gear now and you can actually get a good deal on good gear, rather than being in a hurry and getting whatever you can find at the time.

LimaXray

Getting gear now is a good idea... believe me, it's a Buddha Loves You to get the bike and want to ride it right away but to find the dealer is out of your size.
