ok so maybe I'm just a little over tired and excited, but gloss black trimclad is F-ing awsome paint!
its currantly 3:00am local time and I just finished painting my wheels. they're still wet but they look so glossy an nice. I can't beleive I'm getting this good of a finish from brush on paint. for anyone painting your wheels in the future, I highly sugest this paint!
pics to come when there mounted on the bike.

Foam brushes. This paint is awesome. It's now the morning after and there still just as glossy and beautiful. The paint is awesome. When you brush it on you can see the brush marks, but within 20 seconds it smoothes itself over and it looks like it was sprayed on. I'm going to be using the same paint on my frame and lower fork legs.

afew hints if your going to use the paint though.

First clean your wheels really well. Then sand your surface with 220 sand paper just enough to scratch the surface of the powder coat but not enough to remove it. Now clean them again really well using mineral spirits. Now is the time to mask everything you don't want painted really well (crush drive, disc, tires) now take a bit of trimclad and water it down buy 10% with mineral spirits. Use this as your primer, brushing it on really thin so your surface looks like crap. (It looks kinda like you spilt oil all over them) Let this dry really well. Now when you go to put on the second coat, make sure you clean the surface again to remove any loose dust (I forgot to so this part, it's not that big of a deal) Now paint your surface again with un-thinned trimclad. Now it's starting to look good! Set up a fan to speed up the drying time. After dry, you might have to do a third coat or touch up (witch is what I'm about to do now) Best part about this paint is that if it gets scratched or messed up after a mounth of riding, just bring out the brush and touch it up, no hassle.

those do look really nice.  I have seen many a brush on paint jobs that didn't look like ass.  The key is to use as few stokes and possible and put it on as thick as you can without runs.  It appears that you did a great job.

Just a note.
When buying the paint you only need the little can to do a set of wheels. I think I only ended up using half the can.

Also, when you're in the store, looking at the paint, make sure you get the gloss black. They all say  [  Black  ]  in a little box but you have to look at the pink stripe at the top of the can to figure out if its flat, gloss, or semi gloss. I almost bought flat black by accident so watch out for that.

wheels painted and mounted with my new race front end and sprot demons. holy crap! the wheel and tire combo looks awsome and the new front end fixes diving under brakeing. I have yet to put the handling charcateristics to the test. the bike is so much more nible now. the old tires where square so all they wanted to do was go in a straight line. the bike is way more fun now and I've only ridden it a total of 5 blocks. I'm going out to ride right now, be back with pics in abit.
