How do you shave?

I use a Mach 3 and Softsoap 2 in 1 Moisturizing Antibacterial soap (the flowery peach-colored stuff).  It works better and is much cheaper than any shaving cream I've ever tried.  That cream-in-a-can crap is a pathetic hold-over from back when stuff coming in cans was a novelty.  It doesn't work worth a crap.  I don't burn my face any more thanks to the softsoap.  It's nice and slick.

An, if you want a clean shave with a razor, you have to shave against the grain of the hair growth, I don't care what any instructions say.  It increases your chances of an ingrown hair though.

I have an electric razor, but I don't like it.  It irritates my skin as much or more than a blade.

Yeah, razor all the way. I do remember the Mad TV sketch, they did an animation of the razor cutting the hair like all the razor ads, but once the hair was gone the next 7 blades just kept cutting through the flesh. Is it really bad to shave against the grain? I tried going with the grain for awhile but the shave sucked and I'd have to shave twice as often. I just keep a pretty new blade on there all the time and it works well for me. Mach 3 FO LIFE.

I can tell you're good at shaving just by your avatar.

- Mach 3 razor
- Aveeno shaving cream (http://www.aveeno.com/detailAction.do?id=3859)

I would like to start using a straight razor one day, i have always thought it was really cool when they do it at the barbers.

When you're too lazy to buy more shaving cream (for someone to just steal), you learn to train your skin to be tougher.

Well...me being a guy of color with sensitive skin, i have to switch off every so often. I shave every other day because in all the hundreds of products that I've tried, they all seem to result in bumps.
Now i use a Schick Xtreeme 3 with the Aveeno for a week every other day. Then switch back to the traditional already mixed in a tube Magic Shave that surprisingly enough works rather well.
You see, shaving with the rather works very well but results in bumps after a week.

Apply the MS, take it off with a credit card, and im good to go. Then back to the Xtreeme III.

I am an electric razor kind of guy. I've been using electric pretty much since I start shaving. I tried the tradition razor and cream for a couple of months but I didn't like it. It DOES give a smoother shave, but I do't really care. Electric is much easier and faster for me. I shave my head with my electric razor also. That works out semi-well.

But to shave my face, I just turn the ole Norelco on, run it over my face for a couple minutes, splash on some aftershave and booyika.

shave with a razor, like a man. shave once "with the grain", shave again against. closest shave you'll ever have. indulge yourself once and have a tgrue barber give you an old time style shave, with an old skool razor.

I'm Asian/Irish.. I barely grow stubble in 3 days. I think he'd laugh at me.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

TragicImage

just... wait a week before you go in.

I hate it when I haven't shaved in a few days, and I pull my helmet off, and the stubble gets ripped up by the helmet.

Bah, don't let anyone - not even Pablo - tell you to do something "like a man". A real man defines himself; he doesn't let anyone else define him. Do what works best for you. Try both ways, see which works for you. I assume from your comments that asians have a hard time growing facial hair? Then why even worry about it?  Hell, ever consider growing it out a little?

The only problem I have had with an electric is if I don't stay right on top of if - daily - it can grow too thick to come off easily and smoothly, and it can "pull a little". Yours might not come in as thick so quickly, I dunno. And if you do buy an electric - go for the best quality one that you can afford. The cheap ones will last a few months, a year if you are lucky, and nothing is more frustrating than trying to shave in the morning and having it die - especially half way through! haha. I learned THAT the hard way  :thumb:

Im a razor kinda guy. Use a giletta mach 3 with that stupid vibraty thing?!?! god knows what that does - i know what its meant to do (i think  :icon_twisted:) but it doesn't make any difference in my opinion. Never tried an electric shaver but i might be tempted for the sheer ease of it. My girlfiend used to use the cheapo razors where you buy a bag and chuck them away when there blunt (dunno if you've seen any of these?) but she managed to cut her angles so much i bought her a brand new one (i think it was a Venus one deisgned just for our lady folk - now her legs are silky smooth

I'm a razorblade man myself, my facial hair is too thick and if I use electric it just rips at it and leaves my face feeling like it's in a blazing inferno -- damn my Mediterranean ancestry!

I have a full beard, and only have to shave around it. So I do it every other day, with a blade.  In the summer when I run sans beard, I shave every day, with a blade.

I have an old electric from when I was 15 and didn't have much facial hair. Its now basically a very fast tweezer, pulls out hair like a sumbytch.
