My wife surprised me with a Gillette Fusion 5-blader last night. i tried it out this morning. It was admittedly better than the Mach 3...but no miracle cure for skin irritation. i usually use gel shaving "cream," and always shave as soon as i get out of the shower so my coarse facial hair is at least a little softer.

i'm currently rocking a 6" goatee. It looks hilarious flapping out of the bottom of my full-face helmet!  

Maybe that was a hint to shave that thing

Yeah, razor all the way. I do remember the Mad TV sketch, they did an animation of the razor cutting the hair like all the razor ads, but once the hair was gone the next 7 blades just kept cutting through the flesh. Is it really bad to shave against the grain? I tried going with the grain for awhile but the shave sucked and I'd have to shave twice as often. I just keep a pretty new blade on there all the time and it works well for me. Mach 3 FO LIFE.

I can tell you're good at shaving just by your avatar.

On a lighter note though, I do like to make it a point to get my shaving done on the slopes. Sometimes this approach fails miserably. (See Avatar)

OOo now that could be interesting. I will be the first to open this line of thought. I shave face and shins (for skiing, bloody hurts wen ur ski boots pull out the hairs on ur legs) Occasionally certain other areas get a trim

Oh man, I remember the pain of having my leg hairs ripped off when I used to ski. Soapy water barely helped in preventing the pain, too.

Oh man, I just looked in the mirror and had a good laugh. Not because of the fact that I didn't shower this morning and look like complete shaZam!, but because I looked at my "beard" and thought of this conversation.

Here's a picture of me from 5 minutes ago. I haven't shaved since Monday. No, not the Monday that was 2 days ago; the Monday a WEEK and 2 days ago. So here is my "beard" after 9 days of growth:




Just thought I'd rub it in.

Bah, don't let anyone - not even Pablo - tell you to do something "like a man". A real man defines himself; he doesn't let anyone else define him. Do what works best for you. Try both ways, see which works for you. I assume from your comments that asians have a hard time growing facial hair? Then why even worry about it?  Hell, ever consider growing it out a little?

Yes?  I can't stand a clean shaven face.  Feels better to shave lightly a couple nights a week and have some stubble to run the fingertips over the next day.  I was a Don Johnson before there was a Sonny Crockett.

Stubble does offer some useful protection from the elements not to mention providing added definition to the face.  It does suit certain Asia-types who tend to look like kids for forever.  Heck, might as well enjoy the masculinity--it's not a disease.   

Sure, society will try to whip you into conformity but once those bastards hack-off that foreskin they should expect further attempts at forced domestication to be met by some of this -->   by right thinking males.

Hmm, I have that same problem.....But I'm not anywhere near Asian.   It takes me ~6 months to grow a beard, which goes back to the post of getting a battery powered trimmer as rechargables just short out on me from lack of use.

Skin that has been shaved often with a blade will not shave well for the first few weeks with an electric shazor and visa versa.
