Confused - does a 2004 GS500E have a fuel filter?

I did a search regarding fuel filters and the threads say you can install a fuel filter in the bike (suggesting that it does not have one). The Haynes manual for the 1997-2002 says that there are filters to clean on page 1-10. One of the first threads during the search said that there are filter screens around the petcock? If I removed and drained the tank, should I have a replacement fuel filter handy as one thread mentioned that it could disintegrate if you try to clean it. If so, what is the size? Other threads suggest buying a car fuel filter or a lawnmower fuel filter but I'm confused as to what exactly I need.

There is a screen in the tank.  It is attached to the petcock.   I doubt yours will disintegrate since it's only 2 years old.  If it does, simply install a screen filter before the carburetor.  Cellulose filters are better, but they're designed for vehicles with fuel pumps, and tend to restrict fuel flow in my experience.

I have a question for you. Does the '04+ GS500E (the pre-made naked ones not availible in the states) come with an oil cooler, or is that only on the F model?

Re oil cooler -- the OEM manual I have that covers up to the K5 implies the 500F has the cooler.

FYI the way I read it.
