hey all,
I'm going ebay crazy.... well I'm finally getting around to making some much anticipated mods, & I'm just curious about some others.

1) besides a monoshock, what other parts from a 1993 katana 600 will fit on the GS? without TOO much modifications and tweaking. I'm just kind of curious.

2) what sort of parts have some of you swapped out from other bikes besides the Kat. I've heard the CRB f2/f3 come up.... again I'm just curious & always looking for more ideas.

thanks   :icon_mrgreen:

The 89-97 Kat wheels and the rear rotor are the same.

98+ Kat rear wheel is 4.5" and bolts in. Need to use the GS cush drive.

The steering stem is the same diameter but longer. It can be made to fit either with spacers or swapping them. I have a write-up using spacers in the FAQ. I will be adding to it with doing a stem swap, completed one last night.

I have a USD GSXR front end installed. Turned the GSXR stem to match the GS stem, not difficult since I access to a machine shop. The steering stops need to be modified as well.

RGV swingarm fits with some bushings. Good luck finding one though.

I have a couple GSXR swingarms that I will be fitting. BobB has installed one.

Installed a 01-02 GSXR rear caliper, the gold one and it hangs below the swingarm.

There are some internal motor parts that can be swapped but they require a good bit of work.

There will be some other parts I come up with as I build another track bike and couple of street bikes.

edit:
oh yeah....I have also installed a 04 GSXR 600 shock which required modifing the upper shock mount. I plan on do this to every GS I build. This allows for a much larger selection of shocks.
Common sense in not very common.

Sorry for the thread jack but mind going into detail on what has to be done to mount a 04 gsxr shock?

I fabrcated a new upper mount out of 2x2 square tubing cut lengthwise. This has a plate welded on top with a hole for the ride height adjustment mount. It needed longer to be able to use the ride height adjustment, which is just adding or removing shims (washers). Later I added some side braces.

A GSXR lower linkage was used since it is shorter than the GS. This is needed for the spring to clear the swingarm. I had a slight misalignment problem when I welded it so I had to grind a small relief in the swingarm. Not a problem since the material removed served no structural purpose.

Stock dogbones were used.

Some of the GSXR shocks have a offset reservoir, the 04 I used is one of them. This may be an interference issue with the frame fuel valve, not a problem on a race bike. The earlier 2000's have a centered reservoir which should not be a problem. I used the '04 600 since it had one of the highest spring rates.

I have seen an early 2000 model mounted on the stock upper mount but new dog bones would need to be fabricated.

I have some pics early in the fabrications stage and can take some finished pics if needed.
