if you have just liability on the bike (no fire theft...) and the bike is stolen, are you screwed?

Any way to get insurance to pay for it?

Of course you can get insurance to cover theft. All you have to do is pay for it. I have liability and theft/fire/hail (aka comprehensive) on mine, I think it cost about $150 more on top of the liability.

Every biker needs comprehensive and non insured/under insured motorists.  But I won't ride with less than full coverage now, I learned my lesson the hard way.

Choosing comprehensive insurance is a risk assessment.  You weigh the cost of the insurance against what it'll save you if your bike is stolen.  Here in Ontario you're generally so afraid to make an insurance claim that it has to be a catastrophic loss before you'll take the chance of getting screwed on your future insurance.  If your bike is worth $3000, and your comprehensive insurance is $200 with a $1000 deductible, you gotta ask yourself if it's worth it.  Same goes for collision.

If it doesn't add too much to your premium, then sometimes it's just worth the piece of mind.
