Today I got the replacement mirror for my GS.  It is a stocker cause the dealer ordered it for me even though I really didnt want it.  I went to put it on this evening and am having problems.  This is the right mirror by the way.  If I get the stem tight and the mirror facing the correct way, ie. back at traffic, I cant get the top nut to stay tight so that the mirror doesnt wobble around.  When I get them both tight the mirror faces the wrong way, out towards oncoming traffic.

Any suggestions guys or should just take it back to the dealer and make them put it on???? (They said they would)

Well the dealer is my plan right now and it is going to be a super nice today tommorrow so.....  I really like the look of the bike with just the one mirror, it makes it cafe racerish.

I'd have them do it. Stick it to The Man, sister.

If they are like the Napoleons on my '91, you should be able to get the mirrors to about where you want them by rotating the whole mirror in the threaded hole, then hold it in place and tighten the nut at the bottom.
I brake for bezier curves.

Napoleons are bar ends, no???  I have the OEM's.  Anyway off the the dealer I go.  I did manage to get a fenderectomy done and replace my right front turn signal bulb that was out.  :thumb:

Mine go in the stock mounts, just like the OEMs.  Might be worth a try.

I tried that.  I worked on them for an hour and a half.  The problem seems to be that the mirror thinks it is a left side mirror.

The little nut part at the bottom can spin seperately of the rest of the mirror. It's stuck REALLY good I bet, like mine was. Just grab and twist like hell, it will come.

BTW I had the same problem, that worked for me :)
Rich, RIP.

Mirror is on.  They had to use a vise grip to loosen that sucker up.  :thumb:

the left side of the bike is always from the riders point of view.

I've been riding around with 1 mirror for a few weeks now since that cop knocked my bike over.. Im still waiting for mine to come in the mail.  I dont think it looks cool at all.. and everytime a car passes me on the left ( left mirror gone ) im like WTF where did he come from.  Now im starting to get used to it and obsesivly check my only  mirror so i know when cars are coming and constantly turn around.  it will be nice once i have two of em again.

ajgs500

No i didnt have the appropiate tools needed to fix it.  Asshat!!!

Yes I suspected you were right.  But my lack of tools and my girly strength left me with one option.  And the dealer did it for free so  :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff: Phae!!!
