I work at a manufatured housing retail location.....ok Im a trailer salesman... but I work for a nation wide company. So my problem is that I  try to access sites  such as ebaumsworld or break and they are resticted sites.

I know it'd tottally irresponcible for me to do this but how do I get past this.

Now im not a network admin, but heres the rundown, There are 5 computers, one acts as the server in a closet in the back, and the rest are clients.

anyway how do i get past these restrictions

Where are the restrictions coming from? If it is something with enterprise strength like Websense - you are pretty much screwed. If it is just a basic filtering service, you might be able to remote out and use a proxy / circumventor - but some content filtering packages (like Websense) even have proxy avoidance abilities. The software is smart enough to know you are tryign to bypass it, and it blocks that too. Haha.

We use Websense where I work, and a lot of times we will make exceptions for people that ask. If they say "Hey, I check this or that site a lot.." and as long as it isn't illegal or a huge security risk, we'll add it to our yes list. Have you tried asking for access to a specific site or two?  :dunno_white:

Find out more about the content filtering software that is on the server.

And yes, I realize that I am not John  :icon_razz:
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

What he said.  Our policy is to not only allow all web access, but not even log it on the router.  I feel it is a preposterous philosophy, but the ownership feels that employees should be ethical enough to know the sites they should not be visiting.  If it were up to me I'd install websense.
There is more to this site than a message board.  Check out http://www.gstwin.com
