Hey

This weekend I got my V&H Full system installed. Now.. I havent rejetted yet so I am hoping that that is the problem...

When engine breaking or decel at high RPM.. the pipe cracks pretty loud and I dont like it.. A friend says that that is just the way the pipe is...

I think that my rejet will help quiet it a bit..

Who is right? Can I make this pipe not pop and crack soo much?

BTW.. The pipe is AWESOME! I do love the new deeper tone I get.. I just cant stad the "Harley" type backfire

Thanks

I also put on my duel buells and new signals.. I will post pics as soon as I get the 89 Clipons installed.  :thumb:

I've had mine for almost three years. I rejetted for the pipe and the K&N lunchbox and it still pops on decel. I"ve just kinda gotten used to it.

Talking about exhausts i just bought a full exhaust system for my zxr400. A micron one fully road legal - done under a 100 miles so all thats happend is a touch of discolouration. I paid £192 which i thought was a good price considering the track day end can its got on at the moment is 198 quid! just for the end can. Good job it came on the bike.

Mine is jetted per the jetting matrix (which is correct), and it cracks if you snap the throttle closed above 8k.  That's normal.  It should quiet down below 8k.

Do the rejet and then see what you think.  As you know by now the V&H is very loud.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

WHAT?!?!?!?! The backfiring is the coolest part! I snap the throttle closed on purpose just to hear that.

Popping is pretty normal, that was the best part of the full Jardine on my gs.

Man, I hate that popping... Doesn't sound healthy. When I dug into the carbs, they were stock jets with 2 washers on the needles. I added another washer to each needle and set the mixture screws to 3 turns out and synched the carbs. Barely pops at all on decel, and occasionally pops when I shift.

don't get an R6.  My bike pops if I even think about riding it

Depends on how big your pop is

In the Isle of Man TT, you are woken up by the sound of the motorbikes on campsite firing off the unburnt fuel in the exhaust. (neutral/hard on gas, kill switch off, kill switch on, BOOM!) It often results in a few people who have let too much fuel get in and exploded their exhaust lol. That'l teach them.

Perhaps your jetting is too rich (write your full bike config)? Try to detect what throttle position do you use when popping occurs, full open or half open?
Also you could try switching the fuel "quality" (regular, premium), but i am not sure if it would lessen the popping.

When I richened the mix, it reduced popping for me. Now it only pops a little when I have the throttle less than 1/4 open (open enough to slow deceleration).
