hey everyone, i am in the process of getting ready to sell my bike. i got into an accident a while ago. police came and everything so a report was filed. of course i was found 100% at fault and luckily i had only liability on my bike. the damage wasn't really that bad. the dmv sent me some paper which i never filled out. so, do i technically still have a clean title since i didn't claim it as a loss or anything? thanks guysand gals!

It is only a salvage title if the insurance company pays you off for the bike and they take possession of it.
Common sense in not very common.

if the state has a record of an accident.....it could go either way
the next guy might get a salv....might get a title
depends on how good a day the pencil pusher in Raleigh is having....for NC
also really depends on your state

it was in an accident....should be salv....not really worth as much as one that wasn't in an accident
yes, every vehicle i have bought in the last 8-10 yrs has been salv

you will probably scare someone off telling....but someone else will show up to buy it

want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

A salvage title is issued when a vehicle is declared a complete loss - ie the cost to repair is close to the entire value of the vehicle.  It's an economic decision and does not necessarily indicate massive or unrepairable damage.

Motorcycles get totalled easily because they're fairly inexpensive to buy (mostly) but @ $50-100/hour labor to repair it's easy to get a repair cost that is 70% of the cash value of the bike, especially on bikes that have fenders and fairings.

As you don't have comp/coll insurance, there's no real likelihood of a salvage title being issued in your case.  The cops don't make a judgement as to the value and cost of repair of your vehicle and the insurance company doesn't care as they're not paying.  There's not really any way for the DMV to find out.
