Hmm, how bad would it be to just throw on the exhaust, no jetting and stock filter. Of course I would drive it easy as if I'm breaking it in.  :dunno_white: Or am I being bad thinking that?  :icon_twisted:

I asked that when I put on my Vance and Hines full system.. everyone said that I would run lean.. DONT DO IT with our rejet... Well.. :) I did it.. I ran it for 3 days like that.. pulled the plugs and they actually look a bit rich.. I still ordered a DynoJet kit I just havent got it yet  :thumb: But so far w/o the kit.. my V&H has made my bottom end suck and I notice no difference other than it sould like a street and trail bike now :( Im not quite diggin the loud pipe

That sucks that you are not enjoying it. Do they have silencer for it? That might help a bit.

D-Day

I have a Jardine system on my track GS. ('91)  It is the only  full system I have put on a GS (Supertrapp, Yosh, V&H) that allows access to the oil filter and oil drain plug.  All the other systems require you to drop the exhaust to change the oil and filter.
I assume that the new system for the late model bikes retains this feature, at least I hope so.
BTW the Jardine is the quietist of the four that I have run.

I agree with the street/trail bike part. I pulled the end cap insert out of my Laser and I thought it sounded good at first, but after further review it sounded like a off road bike. I just don't think a parallel twin sounds good loud unless you are racing it. I put the end cap back in and it is about 5db louder than stock wich I think is perfect. For real I think the biggest advantage to a pipe is looks. I mean 5 hp jetted and piped.  :dunno_white: Not much to write home about, but the looks kick ass.  :thumb: Oh yeah, I can change the oil on mine with out touching the exhaust.

5 hp of 35 is 15%. A 15% gain of hp on my last car would have given me 45 hp. Not bad.  :) At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Its all about percentages there's no point in hoping to get 15-20hp (example) from a bolt on part for a machine that makes 35hp a 15% raise in performance is a pretty good step up for the GS any more and you may as well save your money and by a more powerful bike  :thumb:

why? i can out ride everone i know on my 500 so why get a larger bike, i would rather have a 60hp gs (work of course) the right set up the gs can out do some 750s if you knwo how to ride, which is what it comes down to.

I'm guessing so. I don't think they can sell them if they didn't have them in stock.

I guess to be honset when I first did mine I could notice a bit more mid to upper rpm snap in the seat of my pants meter.  Now after a good week of having finally jetted right the novelty has wore off and it still feels like an underpowered 500. I mean I still love a lot of things about the bike, just wish it had more power. My point on the pipe is it is as much an appearance mod as it is a performance mod because when you take 5% of a little, you still don't have a lot.  ;)

Because I suck at mechanic work. All I had to do was remove 4 little bolts that connect the headers to the head. SNAP!! I broke one so I've spent all day long trying to figure out how to get it out.

There's a little piece sticking out so I tried vice grips, then I dremeled a slot and tried a screwdriver and tomorrow I'm going to try a screw extracter. I've never used one so hopefully I don't screw it up more. If I can't tomorrow then I'm not sure what my next course of action will be. A bridge or cliff for my bike sounds like a good alternative.

rangerbrown

for every one,   soak it in plenty of wd-40 or other penatrating oil. overnight and all day this will help them come out with out breaking.   i would like to sugest if you pull them out, throw them away, and replae with Stainless steel. wont rust and will not get stuck.  just FYI
