video from yesterdays trackday at Buttonwillow (run in the backwards direction to the usual configuration).

I'm dicing it up with a friend, he's on his R1, who is taking video. He and I always trashtalk about how slow his R1 is, etc...This is clear evidence a 600 can hang with a big bike. please note the white flash coming across the screen at 6:45 (me), at 9:10 (me) and my letting him know he's still #1 at 9:25, LOL...

this is 10 minutes of our 20 minute session, all of which was just like this, back and forth.

He seemed to be running corners in a higher gear than he could have been, regularly maintaining less than 5k on the tach through the turns.

That's awesome pablo  :thumb: (and kerry for hosting it  :thumb:)

I've never even been to a track.  :dunno_white:
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

So anyways, I've got to get to a track...that was incredible.  I have a good friend who is a track junkie and is trying his hardest to get me out for one of their "training" sessions for new track riders.

That was awesome Pablo, thanks so much!  Thanks to Kerry for hosting this for everyone to enjoy.

Did he disable his speedo?
yes. he doesnt like to know the speed he's going. scares him to think about it even though he loves going fast. at cal speedway (fontana ) he hits upwards of 160 on the front straight. he's come past my while I am indicating 155!

That was awesome! You're so smooth!
thanks. and I have the gs to thank for my skill , although generally my body position isnt very good on this day. I wasnt completely comfortable, probably because it was so hot and the track was greasy.

that looks like a difficult track to ride
yes, it is challenging. Thats why its my favorite track of the few there are around here. It is also usually run the opposite direction. this was one of the few days where they ran it in "reverse" of the usual direction. I'd only done it in reverse once before but I'd been on that track at least 6 other times. I love the couple elevation changes where you cant see the road beyond (one corner is actually called "Lost Hill" because you apex before seeing where the road goes!).

another variable is that it was HOT. I mean it was easily 100F before lunch. He was having trouble with tire spinning up, which I didnt have to contend with so much. I got wheel spin couple times still. he was running a higher gear to keep from spinning up. It was so hot that my bike overheated after lunch and I called it a day.

and while he had never been to that track it was only the second time I was on the track running in the reverse direction than usual.

God that was fun!

Hey Pablo - what is wheel spin, and tire spin? i would think tire spin would be the tire rotating faster than it's able to hold traction. Is that right? Is wheel spin different?

new suit is awesome, thanks. very red from the front. I posted an update to the kushitani thread elsewhere on here with a picture of it. and of course you can see the white back in the video.

doesnt even feel it needs to be broken in, but feels snug as it should be. light too. I dig it.
