I was reading the mod forum on how to shorten the turn signal stalk and thought is was a great idea, (I wasnt thrilled on how far the stuck out) However what didnt appeal to me was having to cut the stalk.....so I decided to just go have a look and take apart a turn signal just to see if there was any other way....well I found on.....just remove the rubber stalk altogether!  If anyone is interested I can write a forum.....if not then I am just sharing my pictures. Enjoy

PS I also shortened the rear fender and adjusted the reflectors...

Let me know what you think.

Queso

Looks sharp! Mine were shortened when I bought it... I think the PO did the same thing you did.

Looks good!
I'll have to take a closer look at mine to see if I can do the same!

Yep...they are pretty easy to disassemble.  The only new thing you need are 4 new hex bolts with 4 washers and nuts (I used 2 1/2 lenght, 1/2 diameter) And yes, same mounting holes...But I have to go to work so I will write a more detailed forum when I get back.

ok I will do my best know....sorry I dont have any pics.....
PS - (I just did it on my bike which is an 04 500f)

Parts Needed:
- Four 2 1/2 inch length and 1/2 diameter hex bolts
- Four washer to fit on the bolts
- Four nuts for the bolts

Set Up:
- You need to drill a hole through the bolts (top to bottom) wide enought so that two wires can travel through them.....I used a drill press which made it very simple

REMEMBER TO DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY!

Disassembly:
-There is one nut that hold the signal to the bike..just take that off. There is a washer as well.
-Follow the signal wire up the bike till you get to a rubber tube about an inch long...That is where you should be able to disconnect the signal, just pull it apart, it might be a little snug.
-After that you should be able to take the signal completely off the bike
-There should be a plastic washer between the fender and the signal that keeps the signal from turning, hold on to that, you will need it later
-Now use a philips screw driver to take off the turn signal light from the casing (should just be one screw)
-The light houseing should just twist off from the bulb and bulb socket
-Now unscrew the two screws holding a metal plate inside the signal housing...this piece holds the rubber stalk to the signal housing...hand on to that as well
-Now the rubber stalk should slid out and down the wire...to get the wires to go all the way through you have to start to pull one out first the get one wire connector to start to go through before you start the other....if all else fails you can always just cut the wire and the solder them back.
-Then you need to take those plastic washers and drill the hole out bigger so it fits over the bolt as well.
-Now it is pretty much switching the bolts for the rubber stocks
-Feed the wire through the bolt and put the bolt through the turn signal housing going outwards with the nut head inside the housing
-Then put back that metal clamp the held the rubber stock back on...it should fit nicely over the bolt head as well as help old it securly in place
-There is a little plastic tap on the light cover that you will need to cut off in order to get it to fit back together...that tap would normally slid under the metal u clamp thing but the bolt head will be in the way to that is why it need to be removed...I just used wire cutters.
-Now you can go ahead and reassemble the light fixture buy putting in the bulb and then the light cover back on and then screw it on
-Now put the plastic washer on the bolt and then hold the turn signal there and put the metal washer you bought with the bolt and then the nut on.

NOTE: THe wires have to travel through everything....bolt,washers and nut

-I put a little lock tight on the bolt and nut just as an added safty
-Finally just follow the wires back up and plug them in...Make sure you plug them in the correct ones (the wires should match)
-Reconnect your battery and then test....if all is good do the same for the other three!!!

Sorry now pictures....if you need any specific questions fill free to connact me on here through reply, pm or e-mail.
