and motorcycle superstore is a lot more that "$31" more.

Did you even click the link.. kepp livin in denial...

MC Super store VH += $309.99

Your CRX pipe =           $ 278.00

Oopss.. my bad... it $31.99 more

:dunno_white:

Im not trying to be a jerk but I dont think that putting a cheap ass can off a Honda on the GS is a good idea..

I have seen that pipe on the board before and Im sure it will work fine but Im just saying that sticking w/ parts made for bikes (not cars) is a much better option.

Those pipes are cheap and not made to last long at all. The Vh is a nice cheap system that is built to last. And better yet.. designed for the GS.

as far as generating more HP?? what is your CRX pipe gonna do for the GS? Burn out the exaust valves?

Maybe that's why no one even bothers putting a pic of the system up...

Mine.. installed last week...

And how many more do they have? V&H doesn't make it anymore, so as soon as they are gone they're gone.

So, what about having to repaint the V&H pipe because it rusts? That's a common problem with them, you know.

No I didn't...I said Vance...as in "Vance and Hines".  Vance is the only company that can come close to my prices, and no, discountmotorcycle.com does not sell full Vance systems for $278, and motorcycle superstore is a lot more that "$31" more.

Scott...a muffler is a muffer.  If you don't like it then we don;t have a problem...you don;t have to buy it.

BTW...the GS exhaust from vance and hines was designed by folks to be aplicable...not perform.  That's why it yields next to no gain and fits 7 different bikes.  It's all noise, boy.

I am reading my invoice: V&H $278.36  Shipping $12.99   from www.discountcycleparts.com (March 27, 2006)
I have posted on my installation of the system on the '04 (with pics).  It aint perfect, but she pulls and purrs way better than stock.  Hope this clears things up.  :thumb:

Why buy Jardine when you can buy Vance?  I'd like to know where you can get a Vance for $278.

Vance & Hines isn't made anymore either.

Two links just got posted where you can buy it ???

Umm, dude. Just because someone has stock of the pipes doesn't mean they aren't made anymore. As soon as they run out, they are out. Vance & Hines does not make the can anymore.

I'm interested in finding out just what exactly you think the difference is between a car and motorcycle muffler?  Its only aesthetics and possibly the density of the sound dampening material (not that that even matters).

Oops...you're bad...they don't send it to you for free.  Check out their shipping prices.

Now, again, find me somewhere that comes close to $278.

QuoteI have seen that pipe on the board before...

No.  You haven't.

Quotedesigned for the GS.

Nothing made of carbon fiber is made to last forever...if I wanted it to last forever I'd only offer it in steel.  Stick to your guns, though you might take into consideration that these cans aren't exactly "cheap" and that I've been running a "cheap" stainless one on my TL for nearly 2 years...still not falling apart.

I'd also like to clue you back into the fact that the Vance system fits 7 different bikes

QuoteBurn out the exaust valves?

Thanks Twinlove!  Price is now $255.

scottpA_GS

What im saying is this cheap $50. Crx can is not a quality product. When exausts are built for bikes they are engineered to give propper back preassure and flow.. a can off a CRX is not made to go on a 48 HP bike.

Whatever floats your boat.  If you want to rock it, go for it.  IMO, the V&H, wileyco, and jardine look better.
Bottom line:  it's your bike--not mine. :icon_rolleyes:

prolly a moot point, but me thinks that is from a subu wrx and mak's is from a honda crx? 8)
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

Ummm dude... 89-05 GS's arent made anymore either ??? Did that stop 3/4 of this board from getting one?

Mak's has nothing to do with a crx...I've made no reference to a car...and the capacity is way too low to deal with anything over 1000cc (I'm using two on my TL).

Scott, if you're seeing this:

...and you're seeing an 18" X 6" can...well, I can;t imagine what you tell the ladies.
(that's a stock can above the CF one, by the way)

And I've been building this stuff for 10 years.  I'd like to see you explain this "back pressure" thing to me...considering your experience is superior to mine.

Not worried about it.  I've got 10 people interested in buying...and one boob who thinks he knows it all.  I think I'll be able to "weather the storm" and make a lot of people happy.

I guess that makes you an expert.
