I will be contacting the florist later today (Monday).  If you want to chip in for flowers please do so by the end of today!  Any donations after tonight, and until Wednesday will go to toys for tots per the family's request.

Donate here:  Click here  Make sure you put "for Rich" or something like that.

We'll make sure the family knows just how much he meant to us.  Please just make a small donation.  I will be contributing a good chunk of money, and I'm guessing that MANY people will be donating, so a little will go a long way!

Edit: wake / funeral details are here: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=28071.0

ps.  I will provide an accounting of the donations on...wednesday I guess.  At that point the order for flowers will be all set and a check can go out to toys for tots on his behalf.

Yes...  If you haven't donated yet, please do.  Let's show Rich's family and friends how much he was loved.  It will definitely help them with their pain.

I opened to read the forum to find out abt Rich and couldn't believe it.  I read the threads with tears in my eyes & having a difficult time typing.  I just made my donation.  My heart goes out to his family, fiancee, friends (including the ones here at GSTwins).  I didn't know him personally but he came off to me as a very smart and friendly person from reading his threads.  When I got to this forum fairly new, he was the one who noticed I was from NJ, mentioned Suzuki10 and others who might live close to me and invited me to the campsite.  I wish I would hv went.  I am so emotional right now because I know how his love ones are shocked and hurting.  We should all do a ride in his honor/memory.  PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYTHING LIKE DOES HAPPEN.  Weasel or Suzuki10, I would like to make an additional charity contribution in his honor, pls PM w/ an address wherein I can send a card.  I am so sorry everyone...my thoughts and prayers and my heartfelt love goes to all of you who was a very big part of his life...

Yes.  It's a shocker to say the least.  All I can guarantee is the family will know that we cared about him.  I am already seeing a significant outpouring on Paypal.  I will provide an accounting of donations and where they went after the dust settles.

If the family decides they want charity donations in lew (lue?) of flowers (which they are discussing) then We'll split the donations between flowers and charity (with confirmation going to the family).  I am a firm believer in sending flowers - it's one of the only ways to physically show the family and friends that you care (other than being there).

Heck, when I die I hope you guys would get together and send a $5 bunch of daisies to mine!

I absolutely agree on the flowers part. It *is* comforting to have a physical demonstration of just how loved someone has been (I know of this firsthand). Thank you for arranging this, john. We can collectively do both the flowers and the charity donation, and we can always do our own donations to the charity, too.

Hi all,
I just sent my donation for Rich's flowers through Paypal.
I am shocked by this news.
I was planning on getting to the PA ride last weekend, but at the last minute cancelled because the woman I recently began dating asked me to go to the Maryland seashore with her that same weekend. I had been in touch with Rich by e-mail and played cellphone message tag in the previous two weeks with him about sharing a cabin at the event. I never did reach him to talk with him about it and I regret not having the chance to say hello in person or on the phone. He was a genuinely nice fellow from everything I saw and read here on the GSTwin site.
My condolences to his family and friends and I only hope that his family find comfort in knowing how much he loved his Suzuki and the GS500 community that we all share.
Best wishes to you all, and let's be careful out there.
Yours,
Todd

Donation sent...........like everyone else, I can't believe it.  I just met Rich at the get together last weekend.  Several of us who rode last weekend are trying to get together tomorrow for a little ride and you can be sure that he will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Yes there will be plenty to send lots of flowers and still make a good donation to toys for tots (and have a confirmation mailed to the family).  So don't fret.  I'm good at getting things done.

i sent the donation yesterday john, you should have it.

You know it doesnt make it any easier each time we loose someone. I remember this time last year i was sending flowers for dole pineapple. Lets us not forget that he too was once a member of this forum and we still miss him, just like we are going to miss rich.

In the end its those good memories that will help us get through these trying times.

I agree flowers is a must, its the only way as a group we can show that we care. After all its true we do care, we are a family, and we care for our own.

Flowers were ordered.  Everything else will go to the charity (unless we find out the family needs the $ to help pay for funeral expenses).  The money will be donated in a few days -just to let the dust settle.

I will also be sending out sympathy cards with everybody's real name (that I got from Paypal) on it.

Thank you to everybody who has been so generous.

Well what can i say...I've been gone for a while and come back to this. Its always hard to lose someone and for those of you who knew him it must be even harder. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I never met him but to listen to everyone here, he must have been a great friend and a good person to know.

Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Yea she was a trip!  :o  Yet she was making a lot of sense with her advice.  She's a townie, and she's been around for almost a century -she calls it the way she saw it and did not mince words.  I bet she gave you some advice too!

check your PM.

Unfortunately I was out of town for the past 8 days and wasn't home in time to donate money toward the flowers. I am in the process though of ordering a plaque for Rich and will let everyone know when it's done so we can plan a memorial ride to the site and dedicate the plaque in his honor.
