I changed my oil last Saturday. I'm never doing that again!!!

I changed the oil for the second time.  This time without removing the fairings.  It was much better not having to worry about the stupid bolts and where they go. (If you don't have an "F" model, the fairing bolts are all F*CKING DIFFERENT)

Anyway.  I drain the oil (from the SIDE STAND.  I don't have a centerstand)

Then I put the new filter in and replace the filter cover.  No problems there.

I bought 4 quarts of oil the day before, and I empty one quart into the GS.  I start to pour the second quart in, and I noticed something wet under the GS.  THE F*CKING OIL!!!

I forgot to put the oil plug back in!  @)(&@#(*&#!098!@#@#@(*&&*_@#&*@(&*#)@)*()#@ :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :nono:

I put the plug back in and luckily, I had an extra quart and a half in my tool shed.  I filled her up and started the engine.  Burning oil smells bad, if you already didn't know.

HAHAHAHAAHA.....that is funny.  I remember I bought a aftermarket O ring for the oil filter that didnt seal right.  Oil poured all over my driveway when I fired up the GS and my neighbors were laughing:-))

You have to start somewhere. One of the first times I changed oil on a car was my old Civic. I had just finished and started her up to check for leaks and let the oil circulate some. I went inside for a minute and when I came back out I realized I had left the filler cap off so oil was spitting all over the hood and engine.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools....

The PO had the bike lowered (I think), and needed to take the centerstand off for safety resaons.

One thing I *really* miss about using the Baby G as my main bike is that no matter HOW many times he went over, he didn't break. Yes, things got a little more bent (my brake and clutch levers are practically sausage curls, but they didn't break!!!). With my darling, beloved SVS, whenever he goes over, something expensive breaks off. Now, I'm fortunate that we practically have a Gixxer shopping mart at our house, so my beloved has been able to repair my bike mostly with other parts, rather than ordering. He's becoming a ghetto bike, but he's MY beautiful ghetto bike!  :kiss3: :kiss3: :kiss3:

Plus, I've never forgotten to put the kickstand down on him (though it slid a few times on me, like this past Sunday ), and he's definitely an easier oil change than the Baby G.  :thumb:

Hahaha I did that on my tacoma after changing oil many many times, just last summer, right before I moved back to school.  500 or so miles later, after I made the trip I realized that I didn't have a filler cap.  Fortunately it didn't spray like yours and no other harm was done

Well, it was only your second time changing the oil, so it's understandable if you forget something silly like the drain bolt.  Just keep doing it and eventually it will become second nature.  Even experienced mechanics had to start out somewhere.
