Question on acceleration

So, I'm wondering...  When I engage a gear and roll the throttle, the bike sounds good, if I keep rolling the throttle in the same gear, it seems to go into "overdrive" where the bike speed doesn't seem to go any faster, but the engine speed does. 

Does this mean my clutch is slipping and can't handle the power, or does this mean I'm over-revving the engine?  (Keep in mind my tach is off since we've established that it's from a Boogie Nights Honda CB).

If I can capture a sound bite, I'll try to post it, but it reminds me of when the secondaries open on a DOHC Duratec engine or when the VTEC kicks in on a Honduh Civic or something.

When I roll off the throttle, it goes back to it's normal song and the trans seems to catch up.

mine does the same ,i've wondered if the clutch is slipping but i've adjusted mine

It usually means you've hit the top of the power range, mine is above 9k. Unless its happening down low, I know its hard to tell, at like 5-6, then I wouldn't worry too much...

OK. so i'm not the only one.  it would def be toward the top of the power range.  it's at he point where i FEEL like i should upshift.  but again, my tachy ain't workin.

The top poster said they have no rev meter. If you have a rev meter look at it and watch if the revs rise without the same relative rise in speed. If this happens the clutch is slipping.

then that's what my issue is.  i don't need a tach to tell me the engine is revving faster, i can use my ears.
