yeah, normally I usually error to optimism (while still not being naive), but man oh man, in this case, I agree with everyone's warnings and approach to get cash.  sounds like that's the latest plan so good luck and hopefully it all works out.

too bad about the experience, and please don't let this turn you off of riding.  the 2 are not necessarily related and don't go hand a hand - it's just a bad transaction experience that happens to involve the sale of a bike.  not all bike sales are like this - i'm sure you realize this, but thought I'd reiterate.

Here's to him bringing cash. If he doesn't beat his face in And he has some balls to tell you that you should pay for him taking the day off to return the $ for the crap you are going through. Even after I got the cash I would probably punch him in the face just because he really deserves it. Yeah yeah, it's illegal I know. If he shows up w/ a penny less then $2900 at least knee him in the nuts or something

Certified checks are good, but like a regular check they can have a stop payment put on them (like if the dumbass told them he lost it - and after reading all this I wouldn't doubt it)

Used GSE's are pretty cheap - you can always pick one of those up and still have a nice chunk of your $2900 left
