Wheel wobble Q

So I have been having wheel wobble when taking sharp corners >75/80 indicated mph. It does not happen on straightaways, just cornering.  Any thoughts on what might be causing it?


FWIW: '04 GSF, Bridgestone battlax tires with 6500 miles.

I'm not the wheel expert, but my first thought was an unbalance wheel might cause this.

On second thought, an unbalance wheel would do that the WHOLE time.

Check the wheel bearings.  It's easy to do this.

Remove the wheel.  One both sides where the axle goes through the rim, you'll see a shiny "ring".  Put your finger inside and see if you can turn the bearing.  If it moves smoothly, then you just wasted time removing the wheel.

So you are saying your wheel actually wobbles at >75/80 in a corner and you are here to tell us about it? Perhape you mean feels wobbly?

BTW what is up with all of these unsteady in corner posts in the last few days. They are all over the place. Check out the last couple of pages about shocks and tires. YOur problem may be the same as theirs.

If you have stock suspension and it is a hard corner (you know, like scraping bits off, like me) It's that .445kg spring f%$king pogo sticking it like no other.

It is stock suspension and hard corners, CC.  I don't think I am to the point of scraping bits off but the chicken strips were very small afterwards, anyway.  Will check the shock/tire posts, Anti.  thanks for the replies.

Another cause of the wobble is carrying too much speed for you to feel safe with.

I do it sometimes. And those are the times I let up, park it, or slow down.

75-80 so your going over the speed limet?.... GOOD

i have the smar prob when im going 130+ and leaning in down about 45 deg
check tyre pressure
see if u can tighten you steering
you will be able lean it down more if you get the aftermarket springs i got so pros in on sat and dam corners i took at 40 b4 i can take at 50 now

before picking up a wrench check your air preasure, low air is probably the biggest cause of the dreaded wobblies.
