Alright, I want to hear y'alls opinions on the Cortech Coldfront Carbons. Control feel for sport riding? Warmth? Wear? Crash testing? Value?

I had a hard time with the Coldfronts at first, because as Wrecent said, I couldn't feel shiza. But after I broke them in, they became very comfy. I wear them ALWAYS, and even though OR doesn't get Texas-like heat, I have worn them in 90 degrees-plus weather, as well as in the snow. I don't know if it's the gloves or poor circulation on my part, but occasionally my pinkies and ring fingers get numb in long rides.

Alright, I have a new question...

Should I go with the Cold Front Carbons, or get a regular race gauntet and wear liners with them?

And if you say the race gauntlets, what about waterproofing?

Maybe?

race gauntlets...keep them oiled.  If you ride a lot in the wet or cold cary some latex gloves with you.  If you need more waterproofing than that I'd suggest not trying to cross the atlantice anymore.

Alright, fuggit.

I'm going with race gauntlets, liners, and waterproofing latex over-gloves. I'll need regular gauntlets anyways for fall/spring sportriding and track days.

So now I need to decide between
Alpinestars SP-1

Cortech Scarab R.R.

Those of you with the SP-1s, I hear they run a size small. Truth?

I like the scarab better, personally.  I never cared much for alpine's gloves or boots.

Don't have SP-1's, but I'm sure they're made on the same tooling as my GP Plus's.  Their size small fits just fine.  Fingers fit tight, tight around the palm, velcro closures work fine, can't pull them off to save my life.  The main measurement is from the base of the joint of the index finger over the face of the palm to the base of the joint of the pinky finger.  (Widest measurement.)  I'm about 3 3/8"

As to the fingers failing, I'm sure it's a possibility.  The leather is not that thick, and its fairly supple.  I knew this when I bought mine, and chose them partly because I wanted something with good control feel that fit tight.  There are far heavier summer-weight gloves out there if protection is what matters bar everything.  For street riding to 75MPH or so I'm more concerned about control feel.  Haven't crash tested them.

Try www.motorcyclegearreview.com, they have some good info over there including crash reports.

Maybe this helps?   :)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

both of those look fine. I wear size small gloves and the size small SP-1's fit well, so based on my limited personal experience I'd say they run true to size.

My Cortech carbons have always been great for me. Very comfortable, warm enough, and definately was enough protection when I was bumped off the road at 30+mph into a rocky median (2" rough rock). I can't speak on Alpinestars due to lack of experience  :dunno_white:    But as for Cortech, THEY ROCK!  :thumb:

Maybe my hands are different size's but my SP-1's the right fits good but I have trouble with fitting the left one it seems smaller or like I said my hands are two different sizes
Pilot 22.5, Mid 65 , Mains 147.5, Mixture screw 3.5 turns out

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

This being my second year of ownership of these gloves, I am pleased with how well they've broken in, and the fit and feel of them.  While it does take a couple days to get used to them, when switching from summer gauntlets, I have found that the lining, in the palm, has compressed a little to give me the feeling that I would normally have with an unlined summer glove; that, and I'm familiar with the vibration/sensation of the motorcycle.  My hands still get cold in these (but maybe it's because I have poor blood circulation), and use silk glove liners in the mornings.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

So no one has any experience with the Scarabs? They seem to be a very nice glove, especially for the price, but I'm mainly concerned about how much wrist strap adjustment it has.

Also, if those A* SP-1s fit snugly in the fingers, if I wear silk liners isn't there a possibility of having the circulation cut off in my fingers simply because of the pressure on them?

MotorcycleGearReview.com is okay, but their products are all outdated. Nothing recent is up there for reviews. The SP-1s that they have are the old OLD model, nothing recent.

If you can, try on the SP-1s somewhere before committing to them.  For me, even the XXL was too small (I'm somewhere between a large and XL in most brands).

No where around here stocks them.

Also, from what I hear they are tight until you break them in, just like my other A* gloves. However, after break in they supposedly fit extremely well, just like my current A* gloves.

Yeah yeah, but the Scarabs are totally different from the Carbons, and since I'll use the gauntlet for summer trackdays and spring/fall riding, I'll just get one pair of gloves, rather than two.

Can't argue with that, sounds like you found the glove for you.

No, as noted before, I'm debating between the Cortech Scarab R.R. and the Alpinestars SP-1. I'm still on the fence between the two.
