Throttle question/ problem .... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Howdy all ...

I've tried searching old messages, but I've found none that really make sense as far as my problem goes. Sure would appreciate the help. Here goes....

My GS will start and idle fine, but when the throttle is applied it'll only rev up to about 2500 - 3000 rpm before it chokes out and dies .... unless you back off the throttle. I'm completely stumped. Before this problem started, I was out of town on business for about a month. It ran fine before that, and ran fine a few times after I got back. I did however run the tank low, after I got back and the problems seemed to start after that.

If you've got any ideas, please let me know. Thanks in advance. -Scott

Does anyone have ANY ideas as far as this problem goes!?! I've been working on it for a few days now, and would like to get a few more rides in before I have to leave .... military deployment ... blah!

I've already ruled out the simple air filter idea ...

Anyway. If anyone has ANY idea that might help, please let me know.

have you pulled the carbs and checked em out? Slides move, nothing sticking, jets clean, flow levels set? That sounds close to the range that the main jet should be 'taking over'. Maybe a stuck slide or something?? (Still a noob, just guessing).

Possibly a plug related problem.

With it running, pull one of the plug wires and see what happens. Reattach and then do the same to the other side. If it dies then that plug is fine. If nothing happens when a wire is pulled, then it is plug related. Either fouled plug or more likely a corroded connection in the wire harness for the signal wire to coil.

Even if you pull a plug and check for spark, it may look like you have a spark since there could be an intermittant signal and the plug does not fire every time.
