winter is coming up, and i dont want to stop riding. it gets pretty damned cold around here though.

what do you guys use to fight the cold?

scratch

$10 silk glove liners (TourMaster)
TourMaster Cortech ColdFront Carbon gloves
Handguards
Heated grips (soon)
Leather jacket with liner (winter leather jacket; also sometimes an oversized textile jacket over that)
Layers underneath being key; two t-shirts & a sweater, sometimes add newspaper.
I used to use a windshield (National Cycle N2490, or was it N2940?)
FogCity ProShield anti-fog shield liner
Fieldsheer Carbolex overpants
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

Thermal underwear works well & isn't too bulky. Nylon stockings also work under your pants, plus they help keep your feet warm.

Get yourself a neck warmer as well.

The more I learn about women, the more I love my bike.

Heated grips are really nice, and you don't need to wear such bulky gloves with them. A ski mask type thing that you wear under your helmet and tuck under your jackett really helps to keep your face and neck warm, I forget what they're called balacava?

CO_GS500

I bought a $9 pair of thinsulate liners to wear under my $10 leather gloves.  The liners make a HUGE difference, tho I switch to full ski-type gloves when out for long in 40-ish weather.  Keeping my chin warm is the hard part.

Goldwing with insulated grip covers and 8ohm resistors wired in series to form 20 watt heaters under them, cotton jersey gloves, snowmobile suit open faced helmet with silk baclava. 5 degrees farenheit rode 70 miles that day never got cold. P.S. Do not use safety toe boots in cold weather.

Bike w/out full touring fairings never again below 45 degrees take the cage.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

Heated grips (soon)

I want to feel your heated grips.  :icon_lol:

No...really...I'd like to see what they feel like after you install them! My hands are the only thing I have trouble keeping adequately warm in the winter (on the bike... :P).  :icon_mrgreen:

The heated grips that I got are actualy heating ellements that go under your grips. They were only $20 or $25 and the best thing ever  :thumb:

I wear textile jacket and trousers. If it gets very cold I will have two jumpers underneith and wear a cotten neck tube plus waterproof trousers over the textile trousers and two finger gloves.
Focus on keeping your body warm by wearing layers.

MarkusN

Yep, layers. Wicking materials (modern microspun polymers) for underwear work wonders.

Neck, hands, feet are most difficult to keep warm.

i stud the tires on my ttr and take her out on the ice... i wear long undies, glove liners, and motox boots with two layers of socks...
also silk long undies work wonders :)
