I am going to be replacing my stock can (I done broke-te-fied the stock one) with the Jardine system, and I have a few questions:

1. Now that the "sport" full system for '89-'97 is no longer available, will the RT-1 race system for '04-'06 fit my '00?

2. Will re-jetting be a requirement? If it is, I am assuming I will have to go the Stage 3 route, right?

3. Which is preferable - K&N drop in filter, or the pod style? Or more specifically, which is more cost efficient?

4. Is doing the air filter really needed?

2. Probably, not a stage 3 since you'll still have stock headers which restrict a ton of air flow. Acually you may not need to rejet at all. I think you're just changing the sound that the bike makes.

3. K&N Lunchbox is preferable. This def requires a rejet.

4. It adds a little HP, makes the bike sound MUCH more throaty, but it's not needed if you're keeping the stock pipes. You will notice the most gain in performance if you add the K&N Lunchbox and add a full free flow exhuast system.

Tussey - the RT-1 race system is a full system, and not a bolt-on (Or rather a weld on). Therefore, wouldn't the headers be different?

Does the lunchbox filter still work well in real wet conditions? I don't just ride on nice sunny days.

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

3. Pod ("lunchbox") style is most cost effective, as it can be had for $30 shipped. Get the correct jets and you're set.

I noticed in your sig you have the lunchbox style - how is the performance in the wet, and is the filter really noticable when looking at the side of the bike?

(Pics would cool, if you don't mind)

BTW - does anyone know if the Jardine system comes as a one piece unit, or if they have it in modules?

I haven't noticed any adverse effects while riding in the rain. Since the filter is covered by the tank and frame, very little water gets to it. Also, since you coat it in oil, the little water that does get on it is repelled by the oils. It's been raining a lot here lately, so I have some pretty valid input regarding rain performance as I ride every single day.

When looking at the side of the bike it is not noticeable at all. You simply notice the void where the airbox used to be. I'll take some pictures later today if at all possible.

K&N makes oil. I forget the oiling service, check the K&N website.

Doind the Air filter is not required, but once you're 95% there, why not go the last 5%?

I still haven't yet decided if I will do the air filter. Maybe in the future.

The jetting guide provided on Wiki - is it pretty accurate, or do I just use it as a baseline and tweak from there?
