Brreak Question

I am in the middle of putting on a pair of gimbel rear sets.  I have them on there but I'm having diffuclty bleading the brake.  So my first question is:

When I put the rear sets, they gave me a stainless steel break line to put in also.  So I did, but when i put the one side into the break pump assembley it pointed up instead of to the right (facing the bike).  Is it alright to be up or will fluid not flow through there?

Second.  I opend the blead vale and p[upmed the brake, notihing happened though.  Kept pumping and it started spitting but never got tot he point where a full stream was coming out.  What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you have air in the line.  Just keep pumping.  Make sure your adjusted the lever correctly.  Pump and pump and pump till fluid comes out.  If that doesn't work, you might have to push the calipers back in and try again.  Make sure the wheel can still move when the lever isn't applied.

fill resavoire

push brake lever down

break bleeder screw on caliper

close bleeder on caliper

release brake lever

repeat until brake feel is firm.  With replacing lines, it can take quite some time.

I replaced all the lines on my truck and it took about 2 bottles of fluid to get all the air out

Thansk for the advice guys.

I took it out this morning and my braking response was much better.  I think last night I had some break fluid between the break pads and rotor causing ineffetive breaking.

Will try it and bleed it again later today.
