I still can't believe this happened.

My friend just got a motorcycle, it's a '84 gs750.  Not a bad bike, but still a lot of power for a beginner.  He's a bit of a know it all and show off.  He thinks he can ride better then me even though I've been riding 2.5 years longer then him.

Anyway today he and I went for a ride out in the country.  Lookin for some good twisties.  I was taking it extremely slow because I was in the lead.  I was worried he'd try to keep up if I went fast. We came to a stop sign and a nice blue '98 zx-6r pulled up behind us.  My 'friend' said

"hey buddy wanna come for a boot with us?"

I was not too thrilled about this.  I don't like riding with people I don't know, especially when they are behind me.

Anyway, we weren't riding more then 10 minutes when this accident happened.

I told them at a stop sign that we would be turning right on the next street.  There was a car ahead of us that had smashed into a guardrail before we got there.  There was an ambulance on scene so I guess that's where they were looking.

As I put my signal on in advance and made a hand signal. I checked my mirror to make sure they were slowing down - they were.  I apply the brakes and the next thing I hear is a squeeling tire.  I look in my mirror to see my friend's rear tire sliding sideways and coming at me. I hit the gas and got the hell out of there.  I watched in my mirror as the guy on the zx-6r hit my friend from behind.  They were traveling about 10mph.  My friend didn't go down but the zx-6r did.

The guy was pissed.  There wasn't much damage to his bike but I could tell he was mad at my friend and mad at himself.  He pulled his bike off the ground and took off in a rage.  My friend was speechless.  I told him it wasn't his fault because the other guy should have been watching where he was going and not staring at the car accident.  One of the cops that was on the scene of the other accident was laughing at us.

I'm never riding with my 'friend' again.

Great story!  I think your friend learned a little "lesson".  No more newbie squidliness.  Ya just can't rubber neck when riding a bike... :nono:
GS500E....back where it all began....again.

Kudos to you for dodging out of the way. Had I been in your situation, I'm not sure if I would have gotten out of the way or if I would have froze. Glad no one was hurt, and maybe your friend finally learned his lesson.
