VBulletin has a thing, though, that allows members to "rate" one another. Though on larger forums it's always went downhill, I think here it could be managed.

This sounds like a good idea, although I can imagine the kaos it could create...

You can't go out on the weekend nights that you are off?

Part of life man, dealing with schedule conflicts/nightmares. Buckle down and go meet some folks. You might be surprised how welcoming folks are, if that is part of your issue of not going out.

It's sad, but I have lost touch with all my school friends...  actually, MOST friends...  I started this job 7 years ago with a set Mon-Fri (7am-4pm) schedule.  Back then, I was able to hang out with MOST of my friends.  Then My schedule started getting more and more hectic.  I saw less and less of my friends, until I didn't see them at all.  Some moved away, some got married, some got busier like me.

The strange part is that I WAS a very personable.  I got along with just about EVERYONE.  But after working in retail for SOOOO long, it has "soured" me against people.  After work, I would just wanna be alone and go home.  I didn't really wanna converse with anyone.

I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs.  Some of my old friends always would go out clubbing or to the bar.  A small amount got into drugs, so I didn't really associate with them anymore.

in your situation, its really important to make extra effort to stay in touch. Its too easy to lose touch with good friends and before you know it 5 years have passed and they've moved so you cant find them...its hard, you have a spammed schedule, but if you managed your time differently you could do something else besides watch youtube all the time...

ditto...there's a few people from high school I really wish I'd kept in touch with.  I've only got two friends who;ve I've actually managed to keep with...other than online personas.

Give the poor guy a break.  Maybe he has social anxiety disorder or something.  I'd rather him post whore here than go out cause trouble and be an unproductive member of society.

I work in retail, where MANY customers love my help.  I honestly do not think I have social anxiety.  Of course, if I DO have it, I probably wouldn't know if I did.

how could you not know if you suffer from a social anxiety disorder?  Isn't that like not kowing whether you have hair on the back of your head?

Bullshit, limiting posts discourages posts, forums should encourage posts... yes, sometimes there are annoying or offensive posts, but hey, gotta live with 'em I say  :flipoff:

And in most normal situations, I would agree.  As long as I've been here, there have been lots of postwhoring times.  But then, there was a lot of GOOD discussion going on to back up all that postwhoring, and usually it was the same people doing both.  Now, it's just a whole bunch of postwhoring and no real discussion/help for the newbies.

I guess I'm that grumpy old man.

Meh.

Look at it this way...   If you have been like that ever since you can remember, how do you know if something is wrong?  It just feels "normal" (lacking a better word).

For example...  I am "legally" blind in my left eye.  I can see shapes and colors and movement, but I will never be able to focus on anything (like reading).  My right eye has adapted so much, that the doctors have told me that in my right eye, I have better vision than most people with around 20/20 vision.  (This doesn't make sense to me, cause 20/20 means 20 vision in both eyes.  but whatever)

So basically, I do not have great depth perception.  But I have adapted somehow.  I can play sports, drive a car, ride a bike, etc...

It all feels normal to me.  If I never went to the eye doctor, IMO I would never even know about my condition.

Toledo Jim

An: What 20/20 means is what you see at 20 feet is what the average person sees at 20 feet, if it was 20/15 it would means you can see something clearly at 20 foot that the average person would have to be at 15 foot to see clearly. like wise 20/30 would mean you at 20 ft = average at 30 ft. etc. (per eye)

You're still personable. It sounds as though you're more burned out than anything else, and that's pretty darned normal with your schedule. I talk on the phone so much for work that I'd rather have my fingernails pulled out and my arms lit on fire than talk on the phone when I'm not at work. That doesn't mean I have a social anxiety toward phones. It just means I'm sick to f'g DEATH of them!

The internet offers sort of a compromise social life. You can still have the social life, but you don't have to "put out" as much, if you'll pardon the expression. We all need contact, but sometimes getting together with people takes too much energy. By getting together on the internet, we have social contact without having to work so hard.

I will, however, go with the +1 on keeping contact with friends, though. The internet can't make up for in-person human interactions.  Is there ANY chance at all of changing jobs, cuz it really sounds as though that one is sucking the life out of you, An.... :(

Campy cranks, you bastard.

Did you have it converted from normal road-style dropouts to track fork ends?  Never seen a Bianchi with track ends and brake mounts f/r, much less H20 bottle braze-ons.

Local=Encino for you?  My lil bro now works at Bev. Hills Bike Shop...but they don't get much past the nuevo-yuppie and his kids.  Some higher-end roadie stuff, but no fixed gear/single speed items beyond a BMX chain.

I dig the brakes on a f/g, I keep thinking about putting one back on my bike, but I never really get the urge to grab it after riding without one for 8-9 months now.
