There is going to be ANOTHER Skills Day in Irvine again on 11/11

It will start at 9:30am.  The location is the same as last time.

Take the 5 Freeway and exit at Bake Parkway.  Head East to CommerceCenter Drive and take a left, then make a right turn into the first driveway.... you'll see us.

Hope to see you all there!

And why is it that LA people get together more than anyone else?

I would so go...but I have to work.

Damn the fish market.

LA people get together more because they aren't fuggin depressed about how shitty the weather is going to be (or already is...) for the next 5-6 months.  I will never winterize another bike.

Yea dumbass ... we are all living in siberia ...
BTW CA winter is far worse ... rain ... I hate rain. Snow is better, Ice is the worst ... but very very short lived usually unless you are in siberia really ... in any case Ice shuts down the whole damn place, we dont even have to call in to work saying we not comming.
Anyway ... rain sucks, in LA there is no other way to get around rain or not ... with the traffic and idiots thinking they own the world with their dumbass SUV's ... so LA bikers are biking round the year ... weather is not the most important part ... I lived there so dont BS me. I'd look out and Know I am getting soaked, yet I'd get on my bike and run down the road and promptly get soaked. I haven't been soaked too bad since 2003, I got lost looking for an alternate back roads to my new house then, I got a light one 3 months ago, but 03 to now ... 3 years without getting wet. In Nor CA there were 2-5 each and every winter. Of course lane splitting is a huge  :thumb: ... so I'd prep for it and sorta bear it ... it was still the best way to run 40 miles 1 way through tolls etc. In NC I run 15 1 way so i can get between rain showers and run home just in time to escape the rain.
Cool.

Tragic~
SO the skillz day comprises what? Is this the guided by the same guy advertised at the last one? Is it sort of like advanced MSF course? I'm interested in brushing up on skillz, getting more aggresive in corners with my lean angles, etc. (plus I'm on the new ride, '03 sv650s, so I'm having fun with decent rubber)

uhm, I don't know about "Aggressive" in corners, but confidence and technique in corners, which leads to better lean angles.... I would say that even veteran riders learn something at these events.  They don't endorse "Dragging Knee" in the corners... but who says you have to put your knee down....  And yes, its Jeff Hawkster teaching again.

New Development:

One of the people that works under me at work was in a head on collision and I might be having to cover some shifts until she is able to come back to work...

I still plan on going, and I'll see if anyone can cover the shifts.

OK, I haven't seen a post of yours in the 3-4 years that I've been reading your rambling thoughts, worse than this post.  I deleted half the stuff that didn't even make sense and it still is a rambling blathering mess^^^^.  So you hate rain.  I hate snow.  I hate ice.  I grew up in Madison, WI where it'll snow on Halloween, start melting but then freeze into ice, then snow on top of that enough to get a layer down over the ice so you not only have horrid traction from the snow on top of ice mix, but the ice is all choppy and shitty from yesterday's thaw.  This continues all the way until April.  Minnesota we had banks of snow pile up, and BITING cold.  You going to go for a "fun ride" while the temp is 5 above 0?  f%$k no.  Do you ride year-round now?  No.  Did you live in LA or Norcal?  Norcal != LA or further south.  I've been rained on exactly TWICE in the year that I've lived in SD, and when I was in Fresno, I got rained on maybe 3 times in those 2 years.  Never was snowed on.

Sorry, but my bullshit meter pegged out while sifting thru that one, Srinath.

Pfff, socal is just for little girls who don't know how to ride in the rain.

Yes, I know that I have virtually no rain riding experience, but  :flipoff: from Norcal to you!

Its been in the high 70's here - so  :flipoff: Peetey Pablo.
BTW there is such a thing as too hot and 90 in november definetly is ... I actually prefer too cold to too hot. I wear gear when cold, but sweat through and hence dont wear when hot.
I used to commute everyday in CA and in NC. I have a shorter commute in NC and I am able to do it much faster. OK its a podunk town ... OK. However I am in a position to time my exit and get home avoiding rain and able to generally stay dry and ride more number of days here.
In Nor Cal (OK OK big diff ... not ... rain = rain, LA and sac and Nor CA are pretty even for rain - temperature - no but rain yes) Not only did I have to commute a lot more (over an hour 1 way at pitiful speeds - average under 35mph) I would have no control over getting timed through between rain. The distance also made it impossible as did the mountains and valleys. If you are a weather based rider, no question - CA is better. Given the fact that I have to work everyday and ride to work everyday, no way CA is better than NC or SC or GA and I haven't been there much but I am going to guess - TX. Also Lane splitting is not legal here, so we dont ahve a huge advantage over cars.
bad huh, I am going to freaking get depressed. I haven;t even left NC and its not for a year, and I miss it already.
Cool.

Yes, alas I only have the crack pipe to console myself when friends in socal tell me how nice the weather is down there. If it weren't for my crack pipe, I don't know how I would get by. Well, if it weren't for my crack pipe, the lack of smog, the lack of traffic, and the lack of LA people.

Heh, I bet to the rest of the country our intra-California feud looks like two rich people complaining about who has a nicer bimmer or mercedes.

I might not even make it on time.
