Hello,

When shifting my bike between all gears, it sometimes seems to hang or not want to go all the way into the next gear. Also, When I start the bike in gear, it lurches forward just a bit at first with the clutch pulled in. I think the clutch might need replaced or at least adjusted. Any ideas?

Your clutch is not releasing completely. Try adjusting the cable at the lever. Loosen the larger round adjuster first. Then turn the smaller one out. You can notice how much the lever moves freely before you adjust the slack. Take out most of the slack, but not all. Then tighten the large adjuster to lock the smaller one in place. Hand tight is plenty good. You can play with the adjustment until you get it where you like it.
If there is too much slack for the adjuster at the lever, you can adjust the one on the engine case.
Take some slack out there, but leave room for adjustment at the lever because it's easier to do quickly.

The inner wire in the clutch cable could be old & stretched, in which case it will not be possible to adjust it correctly, or the cable could be binding, in which case lube it.  If it is OK and if adjusting it correctly does not cure the problem, then it could be old worn-out oil in the sump causing the clutch plates to stick.  Another possibility is that the clutch plates are warped through over heating or that the clutch assembly is badly worn (plates & 'basket').  Wheelies are good way or doing this! (in previous ownership of course ! ;) ).

thanks! I will try to adjust it later today and I will lube the cable as well. I bet it needs it. Thanks again!
