I would Buddha Loves You for a second until I realized it was going to be covered by insurance and I then walk outside to see my Porshe. That would shut me up.

Insurance may not cover it.  He may be screwed.  It would require legal action to get his own insurance agency involved and the service shop's insurance can deny the claim for any reason (and they tend to do just that).

I'd be pissed no matter what I still had at home.  That's a lot of hard work some asshat threw down the shitter.

the shop has to have insurance and it will cover it.  i have seen this happen a few times

My Name Is Dave

This argument reminds me of what my old roommate would say everytime we'd walk be people handing out pamphlets on global warming or Dafur or whatever else the hippies are trying to save:

"Can't you just leave me alone to be a douchebag and buy my fancy sports cars and enjoy my pretty things without having to think about this shaZam!?"

It sure gets them to leave you alone.

Turd Ferguson

According to the thread, the shop stepped up that day and had the insurance cutting the guy a check.  Most shops have a reputation to uphold (though I'm not sure if I can say that about a GoodYear dealer...) so they will usually get good insurance incase of incidents like this.  My old car got pretty messed up by a GoodYear dealer (incidentally) as the pushed it out of the bay and scraped it against a brick wall.  $3,000 in damage and they had the best shop in the area repair it.  I felt kinda funny pulling up to a shop full of BMW's, Audi's, Porche's in a 1992 Ford Thunderbird...

By saying "all sports cars are the same" you're proving my point.  You're not into motorsports.

The off topic argument in this thread is about the most uninformed and worthless one I have ever seen.  The ignorance of people amazes me constantly.  In response to the extension statement, I must be very well endowed as I own a 68 barracuda, a 91 rx-7, a 99 svt contour, a 00 gtp, an 01 gs500, and an 06 gt650r.  All are driven and none are for show or ego.  Granted, only one of these falls into the pure sports car bracket but the others are all in the same spirit.  The total purchase price of my collection is roughly $30k (which has been done gradually over many years on a poor man's budget).  Oh, and I almost forgot, I also have a 96 f250 with a 460 int it.  All of these have their time and place for use and none of them are "stupid cars".

Above and beyond all else though it really sounds like RVertigo just needs a hug and a good laugh  :icon_rolleyes: ... from  to

Sorry guys...  I didn't mean to point out that you have little peckers...

:dunno_white:

As far as my "facts" about that car...  I don't have any.  It's a sports car...  They're all the same to me.  :dunno_white:  They're all pee pee-extensions...

Personally, I wouldn't even spend $20k on a car.  If you add up all the cars and motos I've owned, it's less than that...  My first car was $100, my second was $120, and my third was $1000...  My GS was even less than that...  Even if you add in my over-priced F.O.R.D. Exploder, it doesn't make the $20k mark (unless you count all the repairs on my Exploder )

And...  You assume I don't like motorsports, but you're wrong.  I just think spending that kind of money on a "toy" is pointless...  Just think about all the things they could have done with that money.  It's the same thing as spending $5k on a TV or a computer...  WHY?   :dunno_white:

So...  I'm happy his little car got mashed up because it's one less stupid car on the road no one got hurt.

In the interest of community service, I will provide, free of charge, Cliff's Notes for RVertigo's statements.

As an individual I cannot understand why people who work hard could possibly want to enjoy the fruits of their labor.  While I obviously derive at least some enjoyment from motorcycling, I cannot see how owning a superb auto such as a Lotus could bring similar enjoyment to someone else.  Since I cannot see the correletion, I assume that said people are poorly endowed and mock them and their posessions.  I also don't see the point of buying 'things,' so I will be selling all my posessions and living as a benevolent vagabond to avoid any hypocracy on my part.

If you drive an H2 (Hummer, H3, etc), I think you're mentally retarded.

Your right about that. BUT, there are plenty of people, myself included, who buy real offroad capable SUVs and Trucks, and quite enjoy them offroad. Nothing wrong with that.

The elise gets > 25mpg

The elise starts at $40K. Used ones with < 10k miles are on ebay right now for 30. That is a BARGAIN for a car as superb as that.

I'm mad 'cause people that spend ass-loads of money on a stupid f%$king gas guzzling car are stupid f%$k-sticks...

If you're poor and can't afford any car better than your 8 MPG POS, then I understand...  It sucks to be stuck getting crap gas mileage.  It's a cycle, you can't afford a newer car so you spend all your money on gas, which makes you even more broke, which means you'll never afford a better car.

I don't like those types of cars (or 'busas for that matter) 'cause for several reasons.  I'm secure in my sexuality, I'm interesting enough, I'm capable of getting laid, and I don't have a tiny little pecker...

Anyone that drives a  :bs: car like that is missing something from their personality or their life.

[edit]  Oh yeah and...

Are you mad 'cause you don't know the difference between "You're" and "Your" or something? :flipoff:

So...  You DON'T want to EVER upgrade your bike?

Basically, you said everything a poor person says.  I'm sorry to say this, but you, my friend, are part of the 95% thinkers of the world.  I'm 100% sure that if you had a chance to DOUBLE or maybe TRIPLE your income, you'd be buying a fancier car, nicer bike, maybe even buy a bigger house.

It's human nature.  Nothing wrong with it.

But it's your ATTITUDE about the situation.  I agree about the H2 and H3, but the original Hummvee is fantastic.  I've driven a couple, and I really wanted one.  But when they rolled out the H2, I kinda a perturbed.  But when the H3 rolled out, I said f%$k it...  I'm not buying ANYTHING from AM ever.  Mainly because the company has given into the pressures of sales.  They'd rather have crap vehicles that LOOK like the original, but they can't perform nearly as well as the original.

H1 - around $120K
H2 - I think around $50K-$60K
H3 - Made to compete with the Jeep Cherokee or Wrangler....  I forgot which...  so that's gotta be around $30K - $35K

uh...

I forgot what my post was all about.
f%$k it...

What the hell did you want an H1 for?  They shouldn't be street legal, IMO, as they are as wide as a semi...litterally.  They aren't very great for off-roading (real off-roading like rock crawling) but they are durable when abused in a desert, hence the use by the army.

Unless you're driving around in a (relatively flat) desert, WTF?

Aplitz wins. :)

Actually, did you know that the H1 is not as wide as a dual-wheeled pickup truck?  I was talking to some guys are my local tire shop, and they told me that they've done a couple H1's, which fit on their drive-on lift, but they have NEVER been able to do a p/u with dual wheels in the rear.  I was shocked.

jdanna is right about this.  H1's are very capable off-roading vehicles.  The only vehicles that can outperform an H1 (as far as I know) are the jeep wrangler types that have rock climbing tires and a huge lift kit.  Otherwise, H1's are awesome.

You can build a toyota that will beat up on an H1 pretty easily, but yea, stock, there isnt much out there to beat an H1.
A wrangler rubicon could out rockcrawl it, but thats about all.
