- August 15th, 2005 (give or take a day) I got into a low speed head-on collision and totalled the front end of my 89 GS500.
- May 2006 I removed my bent front forks and re-built a used set of front forks (that I believe I got off here)
- June 2006 I found that my new front forks wouldn't fit into the triple tree properly

So I spent the summer looking for and buying a used triple tree (once again I believe from on here).  Then after much procrastination I finally got to work on the bike this weekend.  By the end of the day (and at least one trip to Canadian Tire to buy a socket) I had a triple tree that looked undamaged but was obviously no good...a proper triple tree on my bike and after 6 months with no front end a bike with a set of front forks!!!
:D

(I believe the problem with the triple tree was with the lower or the stem cause those are the only parts I used)

I, unfortunately, wasn't able to finish my front end cause I seemed to have lost all the screws for my front fender when I moved during the summer (and didn't find out about it till this weekend) but having the front forks on is huge.  It lets me feel like this bike will be finished in time for me to ride next spring.  I didn't take any pictures of the bike in its damaged state but I do have before pictures (I got a paint job while it was all taken apart) and once it is completed I will have after pictures.  I will make sure to post them once I am done.
