Operation: Pimp Bike.

alright .. here it goes. this winter, im going to take the fairing off, put a bigger tire on the back, buy clip ons, paint that monster, (color undecided, maybe purple) and im thinking about throwing one of those cages around the engine, my friends can weld, but im not sure, im thinking about buying neons for under the bike too. yeah that would be sweet. anyways, any tips, advice, or help is appreciate, i really want this to look like Alphas bike, because his bike is boss. i have to watch my budget though too. idk well see what happens but this is what i want to happen, i was thinking of upgrading, but ill just put some money into this bike and keep it, i also want to do something with the pipe, im find with how it sounds, but i want to make it all black or something, im also going to throw tire tape on it to give it some flava flav. any other ideas of what i could do to it? and websites for parts would be awsome, i heard you cant buy a headline except for online .... also how do the turn signals mount. thanks guys, your all awsome.

First piece of advice: Don't ever say "flava flav" again! 

Second: Alpha has a stock E headlight assembly for sale, send him a PM

Third: You will make a good profit from your fairings, it will pay for most of the other mods to the bike.

Fourth: Good luck finding clipons. I have some sitting in my room (thanks Turd!)

Fifth: Don't cheap out on an engine cage, buy the SW-Motech case guards from Twisted Throttle, they're worth the $60. Might be able to find em cheaper on ebay.

Sixth: Paint the pipe with bbq or header paint.

Seventh: Don't buy neons. Can you say "RICER"? (Be understated and elegant, not gaudy and poser-ish)

1. Paint: Not purple. Go with something subtle, like a deep metallic black with a blue candy thrown on top, then tons of clear to give it "depth".

2. Bigger tire: You mean you want to do a wheel swap to a bigger wheel so you can fit a bigger tire. Remember, all you can fit is a 150, which looks pathetically small next to a normal sportbike's 180. Don't do it just for looks. Katana wheel, rotor, and tires will run you over $300 easy, unless you buy it from me. Send me a PM and I'll get you details.

3. Fairing removal: Naked headlight assemblies from the older model GSes fit right on. I have one for sale, but it might be gone soon, not sure. Again, send me a PM. The OEM turn signals mount onto the brackets that slide over the fork tubes.

4. Clip ons: $120 a set pretty much no matter where you go.

5. Engine Cage: Unlike what NGFL said above, the SW-Motech case guards are $125 shipped, not $60. They are damn near indestructible though. Highly recommended.

6. Neons: Check the legality of it, but a lot of states don't like them. And in my opinion, they look like crap. But that's just me.

7. My bike is sold, and ugly now (fairings bleah). But yeah, it was a hot lookin' GS. Thanks.

8. What you are talking about is wrapping the header in exhaust tape. Get black stuff if you plan to do it. As for the can, just hack job a CF can on there and use the exhaust tape all the way up to the can. That should cut down on the shiny bits and give you a bit nicer sound.

For what you're talking about, you're looking at ~$600 or so, including tires. You can find some good deals on eBay that might cut that down, but I have never seen the case guards on eBay so you're stuck buying those online if you still want them.

I'd add a rear spoiler and some cup holders.  And an air horn, like from a semi.  I'd have another button that makes the headlight open up and bees shoot out.

Id suggest fuzzy dice on the handle bars, but I think someone would ban me.

You might be able to eBay a set of early model clip-on bars like my '89 has on it...  I saw a set just recenly for reasonable money

i have a set of aluminum clipons i'll sell for $30+ship. the forks i got came with two sets of clipons and i went with the less extreme ones. they are race clipons, you'll be in a tight tuck.

and check out the green bike that comes into frame at about 4:44. thats a custom 600rr built by a friend of mine (a track junkie no less). no accounting for taste but I respect the work that went into it...
