do the older models have a push button???
on my 04 its a switch
move it 1 click to the left and it turns the left signal on, move it 1/2 click to the right it turns off.
vice versa for the right. its VERY sensitive and with my winter gloves on  i have to look at the turn indicator lamp to make sure its turned off. a quarter of the time it will be signaling in the opposite direction.

if you all enjoy riding around "pushing"?  the cancel button then fine. but id rather be looking for cage and enjoying the ride.

Yours works the same way mine does.  I have an 04.  You push left to go left.  To turn it off, all you have to do is push the switch IN.  Not right, but in.  That is what everyone is refering to when they say

I just randomly push to cancel while I"m riding.

I used to have to think to do it, but now its just habit.

I always randomly push cancel, and when I'm stopped at a light, I'll push down to make sure I'm in first at least 5 times.

Use your signals.  I know it's a pain when you first start riding.  You don't want to look like an idot riding around with your signal on for a mile.  It doesn't matter.  Just use them.  Put the stock indicators back on your bike.  The GS is not a fully fabricated custom bike made for eye appeal.  It's PRACTICAL!  No need worrying what other people think about your indicators.  They are ugly and stick way out for a reason.

well i just ran down stairs uncovered the bike (13* F) and played with the signals. lowl and be hold you can push it in to cancel. never new that. cool.  :thumb:

jarrett i think your getting me mixed up with the original poster.
I have my stock signals and i use them for signaling lane changes and intersections with stop signs. I avoid using them when im in a "turn only" lane at a light controlled intersection. not because im afraid of looking foolish but because I don't want to falsely signal to some idiot and mistakenly be hit.

Too young to be senile! But I yam! And you DON'T ask a woman how old she is! Yeesh!  :nono: Wait...what were we talking about again?  :dunno_white:

P.S. Even in my elderly, advanced, senile state, I still remember (most of the time) to cancel my signals!  :thumb:

Older Harleys had timers, the '06 I have has something else that senses when the bike leans over and uprights. Doesn't turn itself off when changing lanes.

I wouldn't recomend even attempting to change a GS over even with the timers, Harleys are wired with swithes on both sides. Left hand for left signal, right hand for right signal.

When using hand signals you've got to express your intent a little. If you're making a right turn, swing that arm out and then up with your thumb pointing toward where you're turning. If you're making a left use you index finger to point where you're going... (I've had a couple rides with no signals)

when you move the switch to.. say the left, half way theres a little indent, (same for the right side) keep pushing and it turns on the left blinker. when you release it the switch goes back to neutral (left blinker still blinking). when you want to turn it off (left blinker on) push it to the indent on the right. and presto changeo its off.
