Rejetting My 05, The Experience

So I recently became unemployed and decided that jet kit I've had for 3 months is going in.

Ok so it's done, it took a total of 4 hours and the bike runs like a champ. The funny thing was is I had 130 Mains for stock, and not sure about the pilot but I'll save them so I'll look.

My theory is this, Jardine full exhaust, K&N drop in and 130 main = too rich (you could hear it back fire at bit, and smell the unburnt fuel)

Dynojet stage 1 says to put a 128 main in (with that configuration), so I did, along with the springs new needles and stock washer configuration. Now the bike is good to go. Weird thing the Dynojet Stage 1 kit only comes with mains up to 132 (Why?) Why are some of you running 140+ Mains?

All in all not a bad experience. Thanks to all the facts, and directions posted everywhere.

Also got real bored and took my buddies pair of SM2's off his bike, patterned them, and built a set for myself (lovely welds, stainless tubing, mine actually looks better than theirs).

Well off to my unemployment experience.

Cheers,
Mike

If your theory is that Jardine and K&N would make a stock bike too rich ... you are the only one in the world who'd be a proponent of that theory.
Here it is in plain english ... Your stock 130 isn't too rich ... as long as you have stock needle. In fact with pipe and K&N its too lean.
The DJ kit has a super thin needle, and they can get by with smaller mains. The needle is an obstruction to flow, so thinner is the equivalent of putting in larger main.
You could have just swapped out the needle (carbs could have stayed on the bike, just take off the tops and swap needles) and been almost right where you are.
The Pilots are 17.5. Might want to try 20's for that, but if it starts and does OK on take off from a stop, leave it be.
Cool.

If it comes out of your body you shouldn't be afraid to hold it in your hand! :o

Good call everyone, I just took a ride and all in all the bike performed a little bit better, less hesitation, very crisp throttle response etc... I'll be changing the jets out to the 132's provided by DJ tonight. So that will give me DJ needles, DJ Springs, Stock Washer set up, and 132 mains. Any other advice????
