I've slowly been picking up gear since I got my bike last month and was looking at leather jackets today but the problem im finding is that the arms are a bit too long.  I was wondering if any of you had the same problem?  Id have to get the sleeves shortened probably about 3 inches but I'm nervous about spending a bunch of money on a jacket and having some donkey screw it up.

Any ideas?

when you get anything custom tailored they will take the time to measure you and fit the jacket to your stature.  do some shopping around for the best price and who tailores such things. if you live near a military base expecially an airforce one they do custom tailoring all day long on leather jackets. check it out

When you're checking the length of the sleeves are your arms down at your side, or out in font of you? The sleeves on my jacket almost go past my thumbs with my arms down. But when im riding they are almost a bit too short.

that is wierd because weather I am riding or just standing the jacket is the same it fits like a glove.

Common sense in not very common.

The jacket is a bit shorter if you were in riding position but its still way too long.  I guess I'll try to find a place around here that will shorten it for me.  Just wanted to know if it was a big deal or not.

Thanks

I don't want to sound negative but your wearing leather for safety, and if you fall your arms probably wont be by your side they'll be outstretched trying to catch yourself.  You would really not like it if they are to short and you take a little tumble.  Then there is a gap between your gloves and your jacket and a possibility for wrist rash.  just my 2 cents.
