given that it's a UK TV show, i REALLY don't think they expected the locals to behave as aggressively as they did.

you could say the same about motorcycle racing... they both take great physical and mental stress and the possibility of dieing or becoming seriously injured.   and infact Nascar has deep roots as a RUM running outfit , they would out run the cops. it takes skill to hop of those cars and to drive them like they do.

im not a die hard fan of nascar but when I actually covered one as a news photographer and videographer one year for ABC and was down in the pits, its a whole different story. its bad ass to watch on the line.

i have sincerely tried to watch NASCAR on TV, and simply can't do it.  it is sooooo boring.  and the commentary exemplifies what makes people think Americans are stupid and uneducated.  i can't watch IRL either.  the technology is more sophisticated and contact can yield a more brutal result, but in the end they are still driving in circles.

i watch: WRC, F1, ChampCar, Dakar, MotoGP, and BTCC/ETCC...Oh, and some Australian Super Cars too.

i understand it is more interesting in person, but i don't want to spend my money on that form of entertainment.  i will, however, see an F1 race this season...probably Montreal.

now, for cheap, fun, redneck entertainment i go to the drag strip!  especially on Super Chevy or Fun For Weekend.  it's mullet heaven!

I highly reccomend going to Montreal. I go every year and it's a blast. They close off a bunch of the downtown city streets, and it's F1 all day, party by night. All the bars and restaurants have outdoor events too.
The best part is that you wake up in the morning and you can hear the faint sound of those engines whining in the distance.
Nothing like feeling those RPMs coarsing through your entire body as those things whiz by you.
If you're thinking of coming, we should meet up for a beer or something man, my friends and I party it up like rock stars up there . And if you're looking for accomodations, try McGill college. They rent out their dorm rooms for around $60 CDN/night (About 30% of what you would pay at the cheapest hotel during F1 time)

Congrates on the baby coming, but your wife owns you now & there is no more "man time". It's all about her & the bub.
The more I learn about women, the more I love my bike.

dude I hate watching Nascar on TV too, in person its really about how loud the cars are and how intense the teams are. I didnt spend money to go watch it nor would I, but it was cool to be there in the middle of it all. I dont think I could be in the stands though and watch it. and that goes for any racing. the only racing I will watch in the stands is MOTOX or Drag, but people could argue that it only last a few seconds and they go in a straight line ;)

to each is own.
