It was shown on TV here last night, the full 60mins of it. If a gang of Americans came through my neck of the woods behaving in the same way most people around here would not be amused. It was funny TV but if they had got seven shades of sh** kicked out them it would have served them right and been even funnier. In fact I will go as far as saying they SHOULD have had the sh** kicked out of them.

Oh that was so edited to hell.  If you look closely at the "rednecks arrived" or arriving, its a bunch of fat chicks and a dog in the back of that pick up.  Some creative editing can show things in any manner you choose. The red neck owner and that guy I bet were the ones threatening them and throwing the rocks not a "band of red necks" And how come there is no video of all this going down? They are back in a van why can't they film again? The hurried off the side of the road after they had some distance from that town to take the paint off there was no one chasing them at that point I'd bet.

I don't really care about this topic I just hate when TV distorts a situation w/ editing to over dramatize it i.e. all reality TV. What pisses me off more is that Top Gear has done it.

I've been a Top Gear fan for about 4 years now, and this was by far the funniest episode I've ever seen (I download episodes via bit torrent).  Who cares if this bit was SOMEWHAT staged.  I live in the south and I'm damn proud of it, and this is a bit of an extreme reaction, but it is a form of what you'd recieve in most small towns in the south.  I doubt that sane people would attack TV cameras in that fashion without substantially more provocation, however I would not be surprised, in fact I would expect that many southerners would politely, but firmly insist that the Top Gear hosts and crew leave town.  This is not because we southerners are ignorant (although some are, but so are many people throughout the world, so bugger off), it is that we hold dearly to our values and beliefs, and we don't want misfits disrupting our traditions and ways of life.  I live and work in a fairly rural area of GA, and most people around here would react similarly, minus the violence, due to the fact that the host of Top Gear were obviously trying to start trouble.  Still I insist that this episode was intensely funny, and who really cares about a bit of creative editing.

Oh, and rugby kicks ass.

I am really not that surprised by the "rednecks" as there are just as many ignorant rednecks in the south as there are in the north, and I have seen stupider.

For those who havent seen the full 60 mins this is how the programme finished (sorry to spoil the ending).
They drove the cars from Florida where they were bought for under $1000 each to New-Orleans. The original plan was to try and sell the cars in N-O and make a profit but after seeing the devastation and despair caused by Hurricane Katrina the producers decided to donate the cars to a charity. The family who were being given the Camaro  (who we were told had lost
everything they owned in the storm) were initialy told the car was a `91 model, it actualy turned out to be a `89. Upon finding this out a Lawyer immediately became involved who promptly threatened to sue the programme makers for "Misrepresentation" and demanded $20,000 in compensation

They should have expected that and really were Asking for it.If it hadn't have been Daylight it would have probably been a different Story they'd probably never been Heard from Again. If they had wanted to get away with it and get gas they should have told them that their Vehicles had been Vandalized and they were Taking them to get it removed.
