That plus my built up XS400 engine.  Yoshimura cams, 1.75 valves, large port, .2mm headgasket, 11:1 pistons, forged rods and lots of fuel.  I'll be looking at a 250lb bike with 54rwhp.  After it's complete I'll sell that bike and buy another...probably to stab it with an SV650 engine.

The next new bike I buy will be a Hayabusa or a Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster.  At that point it'll be between whether I need a sport tourer or a comfy no-maintance cruiser.

Ducati monster, probally a 900. the dual spark 1000 would be awesome but expensive. the Liquid cooled ones are faster but too expensive to maintain. Or a FZR1000 it's fast and fairly cheap.

I don't think I'd get anything more than the M600...light, comfy, nimble, quick, pretty.  The bigger ones get too "busy" for me.  Go bigger and I would settle for anything less than an R.

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

What I am thinking is about getting either a 750 or 1000................
Currently on my list
Z750
SV 650/1000
bandit1200
ZR7

if I have enough money I would like to get a monster MS4

A crash is the result of the rider's mistake, so don't blame the bike

A rider should be able to control the bike but not controlled by the bike, becuase on the track you don't want to DNF and on the road you don't want to lose you licence

ohgood

I've seen ALOT of mentions of sv650 and vstrom. Both appeal to me, the sv being cheaper, but the vstrom much more comfortable (over 6ft here).

Were I to find a nice concours or vstrom I'd likely try it for a few thousand miiles.

The next bike will most likely be a V-Strom, because a seriously long trip around the US of A is on my list-o-things-to-do.

:dunno_white: Might want a little more bike for that, A good goldwing would be the ticket for a long trip around the USA. Just saying from personal experience and long trips.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

this looks like a brilliant touring bike for x-country/long trips.  i like the design; far more interesting to look at than a Goldwing (bleh!).

How the hell did I forget the FJ ? WOW! I pulled next to a brand new 07 with bags and all one saturday morning. This bike is sexy.

Thanks for reminding me!

My dad has the same bike a late 06 FJR1300. He replaced his BMW k1200 with it. Fantastic bike, it sounds gorgeous and is wikid fast. Im dieing for a go. Looks super comfy and tonnes of room for a pillion (only position ive ridden on it) Its kitted out with colour coded paniers and heated grips, electric screen and i think its a 52L givi top box (the large two helmet one) Great bike.
Custom Kawasaki ZXR 400

It's also hard to argue with 140hp and 100lbs/tq.  Plus it's reletively light for a tourer...just over 500lbs.

If they weren't shaft driven I'd dig them.

girlracer

not really thinking of another bike, i have an HD 883L too, plus all the other bikes we have. i guess i'd have to say an R6, always loved them just concerned if i could even touch the ground. i'm only 5'4", I don't have any problems riding my dads HD Road King either.

Hard question - I don't think I'd ever get rid my GS, but I would like to add to the stable.
If I had to choose:

KTM Duke - for getting my license taken away
Yamaha FZ-6 - For twisty strafing. I don't like the FZ-1...pretty ugly.
Triumph Sprint ST - For the cruise with my wife.
MV Agusta - To do my poser duties.

But if I were to get ONE bike tomorrow, it would be the FZ-6. Sexy lines, I-4 power, and no Suzuki rust!

K&N lunchbox, Jardine ss full system, Factory Stage 3, Progressive springs, Tommaselli fully adjustable bars, Pro Grips, Bar end mirrors, LP signals, clear tail light, EBC front rotor, ss brake lines, Pirelli Sport Demons, Works rear shock

baco99

LOL.  i also think the FZ6 looks better then the FZ1.  something with the front 1/2 fairing fits the bike better.

Triumph Sprint ST is a nice piece of kit too.  If I were to go Brit, tho, I'd have to go Thruxton.

This thread is providing some curious information.

  • At least 25 recommendations are for a small displacement boost -- to 600/650.  Prevailing mood seems to be that more than 650cc's is a waste.
  • There's a definite affection for the SV650 and/or its V-twin engine. Counted 11 mentions for that rascal.
  • Noticed four people that liked the V-Strom (650 or 1000).  Counted three (myself included) that mentioned the attraction was due to being vertically gifted.
  • The FZ6, VFR800, SV1000, GSX-R600, and of late the FJR1300 were mentioned by at least three people.
  • There is a great diversity of two-wheelers -- over 35 different bikes are mentioned to date.

Cool.

I'm 35, started riding when I was 12,5hp minibikes... I've had/have many bikes, seems like most big bikes ie 1000cc, never get opened up very often by most riders. You'd either die or go to jail. I've got a zrx1200 that after 2nd gear and in traffic she never get opened up too much, on the hwy its ticket city. 600,650,750 is plenty bike for most riders. A cbr600 is more bike than most riders know what to do with.

size of the engine isn't a reflection of how much bike we can use.  Often, it is a reflection of how much power we will use.

No, on the street my TL never gets opened up.  However, it's nice to cruise around town in third and fourth gear without it bogging down.

Sure, a GSXR 600 is plenty enough cruising around town and commuting, but it gets irritating having to ride around town at 19,000rpm in second because third bogs.

wilgarn

Well... My next bike will be either a Busa or a CBR1000. The Honda CBR1000 is more comfortable to me, but the history/performance of the Busa ir really attractive.  :icon_confused: At any rate its gonna be at least 1 year, maybe 2 before I can make it happen.

baco99

in my opinion, and from what i've read in reviews, you don't need bigger displacement if you have a good balance between weight, torque and gearing.  a Duc Monster 620 can probably cruise just as admirable as its bigger siblings for everyday use.
