Well after over 3 1/2 years my GS is no longer mine. I sold her this afternoon to a good home. It was my first bike and I logged over 15k on it and did trips from a couple hours to cross country and not once did she leave me stranded. What a great bike to learn on and a overall joy! At times working on it was a hassle but it always went back on the road good as new. Of course my next bike is going to be a naked standard. I'm looking for a SV650 or maybe a Bandit. As I was walking away I stopped and almost forgot my insurance ect. I had to ask the  *gulp* new owner for the keys back.  I felt like I was forgetting something as I left, I was leaving it. It just didn't feel right, its not coming home with me. No ride tomorrow. Cheesy, yes I know. Other devout GS owners I'm sure will be able to relate. I'm not going anywhere tho, I offered to do the maintenance for the new owner till she gets the hang of it. So I still may have some questions, as others I'll always be lurking and probally making any Deals Gap meets.  ;)

awww...well congrats on the new-to-come bike... :thumb:

I don't think I could ever sell mine...she'll stay in the garage and be lovingly caressed with wax and oil even when I get another bike...and then like a fat old wife, i'll take her for a spin just to keep her in shape while regularly straddling the new mistress  :icon_twisted:

ok i'll stop scaring people now

ashman, she's already been given to some newbie squid as a birthday present, and is currently careening down a rain-soaked highway at 90 MPH.  Her days are numbered.

But you shouldn't feel guilty.  Not one bit.
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

Yeah, I totally understand what you mean. It was the same way for me. Then a few hours later I had my DR-Z, so I didn't feel too bad.  :)

Hey, that's what happened to my bike!  Except, it wasn't for my birthday.  :icon_twisted:

You're supposed to buy the new one before you sell the old, familiar one with the fond memories.  Enjoy the fond memories, and remember the lessons well.

My condolences on your loss.   We all make mistakes.  God makes things right in the end.

Sucks to be you!!  :flipoff:

Get some new wheels, then throw it in our faces. You'll feel better.  :kiss3:

See you at the GAP.

ha. Its in good hands and that header bolt its just going to stay there. The new owners knows about it. I'm checking the paper, craigslist, ebay, and cycle trader daily, actually several times daily. So hopefully a good deal will come along soon, at least now I have the cash ready to go if and when...
