Finally ready to road test!
$500 91 gs500 from Lexington Ky is not pretty, but mechanically about right.
Ken (werase 643) and I have done the stuff to make it happy.
We got a motor kit and misc parts for $175 on ebay from a guy in SC was going to put in a shifter cart, swapped the wiring harness and engine, put in a gsxr shock, K&N pod filter, re-jetted the carb, cut and re-welded the battery box and put in a large sealed battery, 929 rear foot pegs, freshed the fork oil, ss front brake line, new battleaxe tires, Ken welded a D&D can on the stock pipe, Corbin gunslinger saddle, and an SV headlight. Fiinally got it finished tonight.
We have a Katana rear wheel conversion ready to go after I wear out the battleaxes, and a 750 Katana front end for later.
The engine that came with it ran, but previous owner had done a head job that didn't seem to be 100%

Sorry if i missed this from a previous post but what exactly did you get from the "motor kit for $175" ? 78mm pistons? stock stuff?

I only ask because im throwing together a 78mm,megacycle cam, ported head, custom full system, etc. motor for my wifes bike and i want to use the stock carbs for a bit untill i can get the FCR's on it. Wondering if the stock carbs can deliver?

he bought a stock engine/carbs/headpipe/wiring harness and lower half of a gs frame which was welded to to a gokart chassis and then cut apart
off of e-bay
nobody wanted it due to ...pick up only
And I drove past the area.  It was about 50 miles out of my way to pick it up.
