I'm going to need to paint my bike anyway and recover my seat............so I was figuring why not the tail peices, tank and any other accent pieces I decide at last minute  in fabulous  Olive Drab Green and have my seat recovered with the material from an old Woodland Camo Goretex????????  I dunno  just kinda hit me as I was looking at paint.  So yeah, I guess I bleed green.

I think it'd be pretty cool, as long as you don't park it in the bush cause then you might lose it.
The more I learn about women, the more I love my bike.

Interesting. I agree, if done right, it would look pretty cool. If done wrong, you'll just be the hick on the block.

I would recomend obviously flat blacking all of the hardware and what about a brown seat?

Yeah

Yeah, it'll be done right, my mom has a friend who does auto customizations and has all the crap to do it.  as far as the seat in brown I'd have to find material for that and I already have an old woodland goretex that I screwed the front up on pretty bad so its trash anyway but there's  a large enough section of fabric left to do the seat

Ok    2 problems with the ACU pattern......... !.  that shaZam! is expensive ( trust me I just had to buy the crap)
2.  I absolutely hate it , dunno why, maybe it's just the fact that they made everything velcro on em and that is the most combat inneffective BS I've ever seen and I get to train Airmen!!
Ohhh and that crap is expensive whereas the woodland is free cus I already have a surplus of it

I'll definately post pics it'll probably be next weekend, my new tail fairings wont be here til monday and I can't really part with my bike for a whole day during the week

OK, I'm impatient so I went ahead and started on the front wheel fairing and gas tank,  took me 2.5 hours just to strip em the PO  repainted it black from its original purple by just couting black on until he got tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  well anyway the primer is drying and my moms friend say one more layer of primer then about 6 light coats of paint should do it.  figure it'll be done sometime tommorow night!!!!!!

Holy crap that is an awesome bike.  that style just wouldn't look right on a gs   I went with a little darker green with a higher gloss for this.  Thats what I want when I get a cruiser though, that is just awesome!!!

check out http://www.fithgearcustoms.com  owner is a friend of mine here in Mobile, Alabama that does custom work.  He is slowly getting into street bikes now.  He does mainly custom exhausts that dont require rejetting and this winter he may get a chance to work on one for a GS500  O0

that's some nice work he does.  Tell me when he's worked out an exhaust for the GS I'm sure it'll look great.!!!!!

spc

Well I went ahead and took off the tank.  Took me about an hour and a half to strip all the paint off and sand it smooth with some 300 grain sandpaper.  Laid a real light layer of primer and I'll reapeat that once more tonight and start on the paint tommorow.  I'm thinking about 5 light coats will get a nice consistency.  Now that the hard work is done it's time for a beer............or 12

My Feelings Are... A Paintjob is a nice finishing touch to any thing , but  to a stock bike,, isnt really worth it , i mean ,why respray a Stock bike , it will look like a a Gs500 still , better to change it , then paint it ,
