No. I have heard of too many horror stories of the pipes rusting out because of it. It then becomes another thing to keep up with. The Duc midpipe is stainless so it should not be a problem but I really do not like the look.

Thanks Jim, that means a lot coming from you

Not a lot new to show at this time....

I have been mostly been doing electrical. Wired in a converter to integrate the the rear turn signals & brake light. I am planning on using a TL brake light. I should be able trim the race tail so it will fit. It shold be thin enough to mount above the exhaust. I have started fixing the 01+ race tail master, mostly cracks from ill handling.

I did add some bling...Pandy style....

I need to figure out what front signals to use. I want something like a surface mount or a low profile mini-stalk. Suggestions?  :dunno_white:
I do care about visability since I rarely use signals, mostly use hand signals. SC does not require turn signals, but they have to work if you have them. Not sure how other states view this.
Ignor the broken brake lever with the duct tape  :icon_mrgreen:  I have a new one....just need to install it.

I had to make a mount for the Bremo reservoir. ....

Thanks for the link. Still not sure what I want.

With all the talk of bar ends, I decided to make a pair. One on the stock clip-ons had been drilled for a press-in bar end. So I drilled the other one and turned some MD nylon. I have made sliders out of this before. It turns fairly nicely.

It is from a 92 (-95) VJ22...

It is a RGV swingarm. This one was fairly easy to fit, especially since I already fitted the one Ken (werase643) has. I had my machinist at work make the bushings. He also made the spacer for the rear wheel at the cush drive. I swapped bearings to use the larger RGV 20mm axle.

Wow!   Cool stuff...

[waxing philosophical]
At what point does this cease to be a modified GS500 and become something entirely new?

As long as it still has (most of) a gs frame and engine it will remain a GS500.

Good looking work Darrell!  :)

Thanks James.

As long it is still registered as a GS, I consider it a GS. But as I plan on replacing the motor with the built GR motor, then the only real indentifiable parts will be the frame as gas tank.

Got a little behind on my progress but here is an update....

Received a Sharkskinz fender today and finished painting it. This was to replace the stock fender which the paint had lifted when I applied the second clearcoat. Less hassle getting another fender than stripping the bad paint, I will strip it later. For the new paint, I used the same silver that I used to paint the wheels for heatherg11. There is a lot of metallic flake in it. Looks good. Pics later.

Still working on the electrical. Wiring in a variable load flasher to deal with the integrated tail light and whatever front turn signals I deside on.

Forgot about the clutch switch. I will need to make connector since I am using a GSXR lever. Interesting that the switch has 3 connectors.

Ordered some male H4 plugs to replace the connector that needed to be spliced into the harness. One thing that I do not like about Aztec8 lights. The lights from Flyncycle have the H4 plug.

To save some fabrication hassle, I ordered a mount for SVS gauges in a nakid conversion. Aztec8 makes them but they are not on the website right now. They are in the process of redesigning then but had 1 left. My SVS gauges are a little rough, they came from a 02 race bike I built 5 years ago. Got the magnets and GSXR sensor but still need to fabricate the bracket and mount the magnets.

As for the solo tail...I have been fixing the cracks in the master and should be able to start on laying up for the mold in the next couple of days.

I took off work this coming Sun & Mon for my b-day, so I should get a lot done then. Should be firing her up soon. I really want to hear what the exhaust sounds like.
