Broken Cam Chain Tensioner?

Ok, so I was only planning on doing a top end rebuild on the GS I recently bought.  But when I removed the head I saw this!!  So now I have to split the cases!     I guess this is just a rant, but any advice from anyone who has split the case would be apreciated.  Will I have to replace the crank and rod bearings?  What else might I run into?

Just the guide. Any valve damage? Splitting the cases are not that bad, just time consuming. No reason to replace the crank or bearings. Follow the service manual and you will be fine.

No valve damage that I can tell.  The chain was tight when I took the valve cover off.  Can't believe that part is 38 bucks!!!

Looks like on of my intake valves is not sealing properly.  I can't find anyone around here that wants to rebuild it for me.

just take the head to a machine shop and have the head cleaned/checked/ and valves touched up....most automotive shops will do it....

Did that.  That is why I determined one of the intake valves is leaking.

That sucks about your tensioner, but it's probally good that you caught it before you blew up the engine.

As far as the head, yeah, most automotive shops will probally do a valve job for you.

Or you could just lap them yourself, it's almost as good as a valve job, and as long as you test it for leaks before putting it back together, you'll be good to go.
