Actually, I believe he is correct..."are" is for plural, and since there is more than one year I believe "are" is the correct term in that context.

seriously though, i just was hoping you would take a look and check for speeeeelling, dead links, mis-formatted text/images, etc.  Enough to make it worth visiting. 

There were at least five maroon/orange shirts for every blue/white shirt downtown last night.  It was really quite remarkable.
