Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Yes! I know, no one believe me, but it actually incressed the low and high range my top speed increased 10mph.

I think it's becuase the engine doesn't have the power to redline in 6th "now I think would somewhere around 120mph. I've only had it to 100mph but I ran out of straight road. last season I had a down hill straight and it wouldn't hit 95mph.

I'm not big on top speed but everyone said it would be lower so I had to see.

It's been real nice here in NE Ohio finally too, getting a lot of good riding in now.  The thundering herd was hanging out at the coffee shop uptown for the last couple evenings and I saw a nice blue and white GS-F go by a couple times but it didn't stop.  My GS is usually hidden in a long row of HD type things.

I don't doubt your top speed improvement with the 13T front, the theoretical top in 6th of the stock GS is 140 mph approx.  So the top @ redline with the 13T would be 13/16x140=114 mph.  Might be better with a 14T though.

When I used to ride more with the above mentioned big twin friends, I would leave my stock GS in 5th on the freeways to better match their roll-on speeds only going to 6th to cruise.  The stock GS in 5th redlines at a theoretical 124 mph which is close to a GS with 14T front in 6th, 14/16x140=122 mph.

Folks who complain about the GS's lack of high speed passing power on the freeways need to remember the GS redlines at 106 mph in 4th.   :thumb:

PS-  Although my 02 remains stock geared, I put a 15T front on the old 97 at 37k miles and ran a 15T front till 80k miles at which time the chain was cutting deeply into the rubber block at the front of the swingarm.   For long term usage I don't think I'd go below a 15T front.  Better to run the 15T front with a larger rear than going smaller on the front.  Sprocket/chain action is better with 16T and up sprockets.
