Earlier today, after her house burned to the ground this morning, my mother had a flat tire going through the town of Cleveland, TX. She was going to change the tire herself because no one stopped to help, but she couldn't break the lugs loose. Some kid was walking along and she asked if he could break the lugs loose for her and he had the nerve to ask her for money...and when she didn't have any money he left without helping. I swear when she told me that part of my head burst into flames.

If anyone goes through Cleveland, TX feel free to destroy a random building or something.  Douchebags.

RIP RICH! We'll miss you buddy!

yup...brand new house (not just "new" to her).  Got struck by lighting and basically burst into flames...which seems odd to me but I'm not sure exactly how extensive the damage is.  MY mother's half out of her mind on occasion so I never know how literally to take her.  It was insured, though, plus like $50k for the stuff inside.  Irritates me, though, because they were fully moved yet and my mom has another HOUSE full of crap that would have been good burned.  Now she has a house full of crap and nothing else haha

GeeP

That's disgusting.  Anybody who would ask for money to change a tire for a woman on the side of the road doesn't deserve to live.  Especially after what I love YOU went though.  I don't know what to say other than take comfort in the fact that what goes around comes around.  Karma is a Buddha Loves You and she'll chatch with that piece of shaZam! sooner or later.

I hope I love YOU is doing OK after such a nasty day.  I don't wish that kind of thing on anybody.  At least it was insured.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

dude... that was me.

Just kidding. Well the kid was either poverty stricken or had an impoverished mindset. Either way, no use killing him.

natedawg120

man WTF.  That is exactly what is wrong with people today.  They always want a f%$king dollar and are never willing to do a simple f%$king task just to help someone out, stuff like that burns me up

I help people...   :dunno_white:  I stopped pulling over for people about 2 years ago 'cause everyone has a cell now and they look at you like you're a psycho killer if you pull over.

As far as asking for money...  He must be from Seattle.     The bums around here ask you on the way in and out...  When you tell them that you don't have any change, they ask for cash.  When you tell them that you only have a credit card, they ask you to buy them a beer...  When you say no, they ask for change again... Then cash again...

Just the other night I pulled out my knife to show them that was all I had in my pocket.  They stopped asking. :thumb:

Lets see ... women want to be treatd equal in everything and they are taking over the world in their eyes, and they expect to be treated like they were the demure  dainty flowers they think they also are ??? WTF ... if you want to be treated equal, suck it up and learn to freaking change your own tire or learn to walk without whining.
OK Now I dont mean to support the clown that did this obviously, asking for money isn't right in any case, and leaving a possibly older lady in danger is just being a down right a--hole, but gimme a break, you have turned this into a vague generalisation.
If women are taking charge and women are doing the things that once were beyond the social reach of their mothers and grand mothers, then changing a flat tire has to be one of those things isn't it. Lets see, they want to do the nice and clean and easy and pretty and good looking stuff, and still want men to do the dirty work ... OK sounds good, but it aint happening unless the requestor is doing some heavy putting out for me ... Or in my case ... I dunno, cooks some good fud ...
Cool.

Actually, Srinath, the number of women screaming for "equal treatment" is a very, very small, though noisy, number of the female community.  The majoraty of women out there are not actually feminists.  There's a lot of difference between "I want to vote, too" and "anything a man can do, I can do".

I'm sorry to hear that your mother had to go through all that.

People do suck, but I try and help out as many people as I can.  I stop along the highway and try to help a stranded motorist from time to time...  And everytime I am able to help, it gives me a great joy to see their smile.  I NEVER ask for anything in return, except that they in turn help another.

The world needs more people that are willing to help a complete stranger.

If I see someone on a phone or they appear to have the situation under control I buzz on by.   But if it's an older person or they look distraught I stop and help :thumb:  It's called being a decent human being even if I am a Tard/Squid :thumb:

The issue is not just that she's a woman...  She's an OLD woman...

If an old man asked me to help with his tire, I still would...

We are one of the few countries that treat our old people like 5th rate garbage...  Man, woman, shim, whatever... It doesn't matter.  It was a f%$ked up thing to do.

But, what the hell do I know...  I hold the door for old people... And I wait until the slowly walk through...  Even if it taked 2 minutes.

spc

I agree RV  that's why I used person instead of woman

The Buddha

Yea small and very very very shrill minority ... I'll agree, but hey we always say the 1% of squids ruin it for all of us right ...
Anyway its still borderline wanting to have it both ways.
On a side note I have had several female bosses and not one of them wanted to get their hands dirty with the old crap code anyway ... dont worry I have a few male bosses tht are the same too ... however the best female boss I had explicitly told me that she needs me to keep her out of the code and handle the other clowns that throw technical jargon at her by paraphrasing their jargon into english (in some cases right or wrong was OK) for her. Not only were they throwing techno babble at a poor defenseless woman, they were also 50% or so injun. So it was effectively incomprehensible even if they were reading the morning news paper to her. Nice job. Should've asked for more $$.
Cool.

The fact that she was a woman hasn't that much to do with it.  If someone asks you for help and you have the ability, there's no excuse.  That's common courtesy.  That's being a decent human being.

To me it's also part of being a man.  Call me chauvinist, sexist, whatever...that's the kind of thing men are supposed to do.  They help people on the side of the road.  They hold doors open for EVERYONE that's walking through and they wait at the door if there are elderly, lone women, or children approaching.  They carry the groceries in.  They're the last ones to fix their plate and, if the women cooked, they do the dishes.  But that's just me.

Srinath...that just furthers that it's a "people" thing and not a men/women thing.  My mother is older and weaker now, but I was little I remember her dropping and changing a transmission on a 1979 Ford pickup using a pair of channel-locks, some screwdrivers, and a "fix it" book.  Then there's my neighbor who can't figure out how to put fuel in his lawn mower.  Some people are more capable than others and it's not always gender-based.

I think that's called "Gentleman."

I've been stuck holding a door for a dozen-or-so people, 'cause no one would take it from me...   :icon_rolleyes:  I didn't even get a tip...   :icon_rolleyes:
