hey man youve got my mind moving at 100mph. I just got a gs500 that I had sold back. Tired of the way it looks. When I saw the pic of what you want your bike to look like. I fell in Love. I really like the tail section mods you have planned. Please post pics when you have the frame mods done. Cause Im ready to start cutting. I showed the pic to the guy I got the bike back from He said he would like to have one like that He didnt even realize that it was a gs500. I cant wait to start cutting.

Awesome! I will be following this build. Looks amazing so far :thumb:

Stupid hurts. Dress for the crash, not for the ride.

bombadillo

you planning on clip-ons or a drag bar.  I think that thing would look bad with a nice set of drag bars and bar end mirrors.  I'm kind of going that route with the flat black so we're kinda heading in different directions.
GS500E with a bunch of cool stuff!

what type of headlight are you planning to use? I am doing almost same thing and Im using Acerbis cyclops headlight with renthal fat bars.

Will probably be stock for a while.  Maybe a set of duals to resemble a buell in the future.

Nice job with the motor :thumb:
The attention to detail on the bike will definitely be recognized on the final product man, good job so far.

What year is the seat....will that tank fit a 1990?

cosmiccharlie

The tank will fit a 90, but the 90 seat and plastics don't line up perfectly with it.  I am not sure exactly what year my monster seat came from.

Hopefully I'll be back on this project soon.  My car dropped a valve, so now I am in the middle of swapping in a Version 5 STi engine into my impreza.

I've heard that there have been some complaints about head problems on those cars.Do you know if it's true?I aLmost bought one.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

cosmiccharlie

98's had head gasket problems.  I have not experienced or heard of any other problems with the heads.  Well except for mine dropping a valve, but I knew the motor in this car was on the way out when I bought it.  The previous owner didn't take very good care of it.  I bought it with plans of swapping in the turbo motor.

I just picked up a ducati corbin seat for 75.00 bucks, Was there much you had to do to the subframe to mount it?

cosmiccharlie

The frame has to be made from scratch.  I have not had a chance to get mine done yet.

cheesy

Just to warn ya... that seat is going to be a ball buster - literally.  Looks good though..
