Rider to Rider Communication? Bluetooth?

I have been thinking about trying to get some kind of rider to rider com going, and it seems like the options are:  The BlueAnt Interphone, which is bluetooth and has a *150yd?* range.  The problem is that it will only pair with one other interphone, so I could use it with another rider, or with a passenger but not both at the same time.  They look like they cost at least $150, maybe $180 for each headset, which is pretty expensive in my book.

Option 2 is to get a cobra radio or similar, they are dirt cheap on ebay, and to get the helmet and push to talk kit also on ebay.  Total would be like $60 for 2 complete setups and maybe even a couple extra radios.  These have a range from (supposedly) 2 miles to 10 miles.

Any advice on this subject?  Is there another option to look at?  I think the wireless capability of bluetooth is cool but for extra range and a cheap price point I would get the radios if they work well.

I used to use Collett Communicators. Not the cheapest they really worked great. Range was several miles in the open, limited in the mountains of course. The newer ones have even more features. www.collettcommunicators.com
Common sense in not very common.

They scala bluetooth units have gotten pretty good reviews, but they're somewhat pricier ($250 for a 2 unit set). They also function as a cell phone headset, if you are into chatting while riding...
