That pic reminded me that the SVS had the best gauge cluster ever!  That speedo rocks.

And I went on a group ride this weekend.  Some kid on a SV650S rode two up with this girlfriend and probably averaged like 90 mph for 4 hours.  He was near the front of the group with the guys in full leathers.  Mad props.

:kiss3: my SVS. The position is sportier on the SVS than the SV, and that's exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want to be sitting straight up anymore, but I wasn't ready for a supersport...the SVS was an excellent compromise (and he takes drops almost as well as the Baby G :icon_mrgreen:)

Alright Pandy - you've convinced me.  if only they had silver and/or black this year.  Hope to have some ne blue pix up in the next few weeks.

I like the SVS, i would opt to get the full fairing though.  They are good bikes, man I don't know what i am going to do when i get to get another bike.......

Oh great...now you're going to blame ME when you hate your new bike....  :flipoff: :icon_mrgreen:

RVertigo: Come to think of it, those first miles were put on by Ceek's son (he rode my new baby home for me...I decided I was too night-blind and too darned scared to ride him for the first time at night )...otherwise, like with my Baby G, I'd likely have fallen over the first ride. :P

Actually - I think I need to attempt to arrange a test ride ... not like the Dealer will let me, seems like only the cool Ducati and BMW dealers do that haha.  Worried that the seat seems rather hard.

vtlion

The seat is not bad at all.  You will get much worse on the supersports

gel seats are also available, i think.  I've never even considered one, and I have done some iron-butt sessions of almost 1000 miles on it.

Yeah, the seat is hard, but I think most of 'em are?  :dunno_white: Bike shorts...gel seat....custom-to-your-butt fitted seat? This is a small problem!  :icon_mrgreen:

I'm still trying to make it through what all the clothing stuff is.  I haven't even gotten to accessories...I have sooo much to learn.   :)

Ok - so the SVRider board pales in comparison to this one.  And I cannot seem to find the answer anywhere else so I thought I'd ask here.  Current model year (or 05/06), what's the difference between an SV650 and an SV650s?  From what I can tell, it's only the fairing, headlight setup, and clipons on the SVS.  Am I missing anything?  And would you get an SVS or an SV and try to find clipons?

The S models are fuel injected.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

Jake D

All SV's were fuel injected after 2003.

So I bought an 07 Blue SVS yesterday afternoon.  I was officially bikeless for 75 minutes.  Just turned 150 miles.  So I have a few follow up questions :)

1.  Does everyone here who have an SV have to deal with the right hand falling asleep or is it just me?
2.  When pushing out of a space or stopping ... she sounds like an RC car ... also just me?
3.  Anyone know if one of Srinath's flanges will work so I can put a CF pipe on for less than $500?  My wife burned her foot on the exhast yesterday.

So yeah - loving the bike (other than the hand thing).  Still miss the GS though.

pandy

I got used to the vibration. Now the only time the vibration bothers my hands is if I'm riding all day. I also am reminding myself constantly to keep my arms and wrists loose, because I tend toward the death grip. :icon_mrgreen:

NiceGuysFinishLast

Doubt the srinath flange will work, I'm 99.99999999% sure that the exhaust diameters are different on the GS vs. the SV

Just buy a slipon made for the SV.. it's not like the GS, there's a real aftermarket for it.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

vtlion

Most SV riders go with the Yoshi RS3 or the M4.  They both sound great.  I have also seen (but never heard) one with a Micron pipe.

MrDan

Yeah, I like the looks of the Yoshi and M4 but to get a decent CF one means spending $$$$$$$$.  I was looking for a cheaper way to do it.  Maybe I can find a used one somewhere.

Pandy - I've been pretty conscious of the death grip.  I was finding on the highway, with my hand resting on the throttle, fingers over the brake, that it was still happening.  Leaning on my left arm on the tank or tucking both seem to help though.  I think I just need to get used to it.

Oh - and it really sucks trying to outrun a thunderstorm when you can't go over 6k rpm haha
